'Big Hero 6' TV Show Is Coming to Disney Xd in 2017

Big Hero 6, an animated television series for kids, tweens and families based on Walt Disney Animation Studios' Academy Award-winning feature film inspired by the Marvel comics of the same name, has begun production for a 2017 premiere on Disney Xd platforms around the world. Emmy Award-winning producers Mark McCorkle and Robert Schooley, creators and executive producers of the global hit Disney Channel series Kim Possible, are the executive producers. The series was announced today by Gary Marsh, president and chief creative officer, Disney Channels Worldwide, who had this to say in a statement.

"Our colleagues at Walt Disney Animation Studios have created a brilliant new world, inspired by Marvel, with vivid, unique characters. We are thrilled to have the opportunity to further develop these characters into a world class animated series -- full of fun, action and the kind of endearing storytelling that only Mark, Bob -- and Baymax -- can deliver. »

Big Hero 6 Will Return As Disney Xd TV Show

Big Hero 6 was somewhat of  a surprise at the 2014 box office.  The 3D computer animated film from Disney grossed $657.8 million worldwide from an estimated production budget of $165 million.  Directed by Don Hall and Chris Williams, the next step for the franchise appears to be an animated show on Disney Xd.  The creators of Kim Possible, Mark McCorkle and Bob Schooley, are overseeing production on the show (along with Nick Filippi) which is set to premiere some time n 2017.  The show will pick up immediately from where the film left off, following the further adventures of 14-year-old Hiro and his helper-robot Baymax.  Wasabi, Honey Lemon, Fred and Go Go are also expected to return.  The original film featured the voices of T.J. Miller, Damon Wayans Jr., Maya Rudolph, Jamie Chung, Génesis Rodríguez, Alan Tudyk and Stan Lee.  No word yet on whether any will return to voice their respective characters. »

Memorable Images Focus Of Animated Features Celebration During Oscar Week

One of movie fans favorite events of Oscar Week was held Thursday evening at the Samuel Goldwyn Theatre, as the Academy held the eighth annual event celebrating the nominees for Best Animated Feature Film.

The evening featured clips from each film, followed by an onstage discussion with each group of nominated filmmakers.

This year’s eclectic mix – Anomalisa, Boy and the World, Inside Out, Shaun the Sheep Movie and When Marnie Was There – are as international as they are distinct.

Employing a stunning variety of animation techniques, the nominees explored a wide range of topics, including existential despair, devastation of natural resources, learning to handle emotion, the value of friendship and surviving the difficulties of adolescence.

This year, members were able to stream the movies and voting came from all over the world.

The evening’s hosts were Don Hall, Chris Williams, Roy Conli, last year’s Oscar winning team from Big Hero 6. »

The Academy Announces Oscar Week Events Leading Up To 88th Oscars

If you’re in the Southern California area during the days leading up the 88th Oscars on February 28th, there are great events at the Academy that no movie fan will wants to miss.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will present a series of public programs celebrating this year’s nominees in the Animated Feature Film, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short Subject, Foreign Language Film, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Animated and Live Action Short Film categories.  All events will be held at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills.
