Dwayne Johnson Squares Off Against Armie Hammer In Awesome New Fan Art For Black Adam

22 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

As we inch closer and closer to Wonder Woman, there’s a sense of positivity starting to build around the DC Extended Universe. The first wave of reactions to the film were pretty promising and with recent announcements of projects like Nightwing and Batgirl causing much excitement amongst fans, it’s beginning to look like things might be about to turn around for the struggling franchise.

Of course, Justice League is the big unknown at the moment, and given the fact that so much hinges on it, the mixed reports we’ve been hearing about the production have been a cause for concern. We’re trying to remain optimistic, but even if it does end up bombing, Warner Bros. still has one last card to play that could make all the difference, and it comes in the form of Dwayne Johnson.

Rumor Suggests Green Lantern Corps Will Be The DC Equivalent Of Guardians Of The Galaxy

23 May 2017 3:06 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Even by the inflated standards of the superhero genre, the past 24 hours have proven to be a whirlwind of DC-related announcements – Joss Whedon picking up the torch on Justice League, for instance – and HD costume pictures designed to take you up close and personal with five of the six costumed crusaders: Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.

But it doesn’t end there; Reddit has now posted a series of yet-be-confirmed morsels of information relating to six major DC tentpoles cramming up the pipeline, one of which is the long-in-development Green Lantern Corps movie. And so, after uncovering a handful of alleged tidbits pertaining to The Batman and its roster of villains, not to mention the horror elements of James Wan’s Aquaman, the Reddit thread narrowed the focus to Hal Jordan and John Stewart’s spacefaring buddy-cop movie.

It seems like all anyone wants to talk about this week is Cannes, and the alleged hubbub Netflix has created by not releasing their films in French theatres. Their Bong Joon-ho–directed “Okja” was amongst the films that were booed during a screening and had to be stopped. Festival jury members—which this year include Will Smith—have been arguing about whether Netflix should be allowed nominations if it doesn’t release films in France. The rumour mill is also whirring about big upcoming projects and casting. Highlights include Daniel Radcliffe starring in the prison drama “Escape From Pretoria,” based on the life of Tim Jenkin and due to film in South Africa in early 2018. Tom Hardy is set to play a decorated U.S. Navy Seal in a new film from director Andrew Dominik (“Chopper”) and producer Ridley Scott. It was announced yesterday that Tom Hardy will be portraying Venom in the new Sony Marvel Universe (aka the Smu) and today we get a glimpse of what that could look like through some imaginative fan-made art. Hardy is all set and excited to play the roll of Eddie Brock in the upcoming Venom movie, but what will happen with Sony's own division of Marvel? We do know that the movie will carry an R rating and will launch in the fall of 2018, marking the first movie of Sony's Marvel Universe.

The news of a standalone Venom movie is long over due, especially when one thinks about his appearance in Spider-Man 3. Some fans would like to forget that version of Venom even exists, but it did prove that Venom is an in-demand character, ready for his own anti-hero movie. Sony's Venom is still over a year away and there »

Dwayne Johnson says Black Adam will battle Superman, wants Armie Hammer to play Shazam

17 May 2017 1:56 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

With everyone’s attention on DC’s Wonder Woman and Justice League, its easy to forget some of the other plans in the DC Extended Universe post-Justice League. Two of those movies will be based upon Shazam, with one focusing on the hero and the other the villainous Black Adam, played by Dwayne Johnson.

In an interview with Fandango, Johnson offered a little information on the Black Adam film and even teased a confrontation between him and Henry Cavill’s Superman.

“It’s definitely going to happen, sure,” he said about Black Adam. “We’ve had great conversations with Geoff Johns and everyone over at DC. It’s an exciting time right now for everyone at DC because they are in a process now where they are building out their DC universe really nicely. Dwayne Johnson Turns In A Status Report On Proposed Fast And Furious Spinoff And His Desire To Expand The Franchise

17 May 2017 11:37 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, arguably one of the most prolific talents working in Hollywood today, is currently in the midst of Baywatch‘s press tour, and that can only mean one thing: over the coming weeks, the former WWE wrestler will be soliciting questions pertaining to most, if not all of the many, many feature films currently lining his slate.

Case in point: when Wgtc caught up with The Fate of the Furious actor, we couldn’t help but quiz Johnson on his involvement in the DC Extended Universe. On board to play the brooding anti-hero known as Black Adam, it seems as though the Hollywood superstar already has an actor in mind to play Shazam (spoilers: it’s Armie Hammer).

Warner’s Dceu is by no means the only mega-franchise that has carved out room for Dwayne Johnson though, after Universal welcomed him aboard the Fast and Furious saga in time for Fast Five. »
