'Call Me by Your Name' Director on the Challenges of Shooting That Peach Scene
When Luca Guadagnino’s Call Me by Your Name, the love story adapted from Andre Aciman’s novel about a young man (Timothee Chalamet) who falls for a research assistant (Armie Hammer) during a summer in Italy, picked up four Oscar nominations, it capped an amazing year for the film that began at the Sundance Film Festival almost exactly a year earlier.

Guadagnino, 46, who was attached as a producer before coming on to direct as well (taking over from James Ivory, who penned the screenplay), earned his first Oscar nomination with the film, which he produced with Peter Spears, Emilie Georges...

Final Portrait is the story of the touching and offbeat friendship between American writer and art-lover James Lord and Alberto Giacometti, as seen through Lord’s eyes and revealing unique insight into the beauty, frustration, profundity and sometimes the chaos of the artistic process. Set in 1964, while on a short trip to Paris, Lord is asked by his friend, Giacometti, to sit for a portrait. The process, promises Giacometti, will take only a few days and so Lord agrees — ultimately wondering “how much longer can it go on like this?

Independent Spirit Awards 2018: Will Armie Hammer (‘Call Me by Your Name’) be avenged after Oscar snub?

Independent Spirit Awards 2018: Will Armie Hammer (‘Call Me by Your Name’) be avenged after Oscar snub?
Armie Hammer earned Golden Globe and Critics’ choice nominations for his performance in “Call Me by Your Name” as a grad student who falls in love with his professor’s son (Timothee Chalamet), but then Hammer was overlooked by the SAG Awards, BAFTAs and Oscars. However, there’s still one event where Hammer could be avenged: the Independent Spirit Awards, which will be handed out the night before the Oscars. He’s a dark horse contender with 10/1 odds according to our latest predictions.

As of this writing Sam Rockwell (“Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri”) has the lead for Best Supporting Actor with 2/11 odds after dominating the awards season with victories at the Globes, Critics’ Choice Awards, SAG Awards and BAFTAs. He’s the favorite for the Oscar as well, but perhaps that will actually help Hammer at the Spirit Awards. “Call Me” is the most nominated film at these awards with six bids,

Time to Suit Up: Hollywood’s Men Hit the Refresh Button on Red Carpet
From daring colors to dashing cuts, Hollywood’s leading men are cutting a swathe through old, outdated ideas about men’s red-carpet style. We asked stylists Michael Fisher, who works with Oscar nominee Sam Rockwell and Grammy host James Corden, in addition to a plethora of stars that includes Jake Gyllenhaal and Hugh Jackman, left, and Ilaria Urbinati, whose clients include Grammy winner Donald Glover, Golden Globe nominee Armie Hammer, right, as well as Bradley Cooper and Ryan Reynolds, to spotlight the top menswear trends sprucing up the red carpet this awards season.

Plush Velvet

“Velvet is huge right now and always so elegant without being over the top,” says Urbinati, who chose bottle-green Ralph Lauren for Milo Ventimiglia at the Critics’ Choice Awards. “There’s something about the texture that feels so rich. It photographs really luxuriously, and a little bit vintage, too, giving it a special, old school vibe.”

Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill To Be Honored With Star On Hollywood Walk Of Fame

What a day it’s been for Mark Hamill.

The ceremony, which has been scheduled to take place on March 8th, will make Hamill the 2,630th person to receive such an honor, and we understand both George Lucas and co-star Harrison Ford (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) will be present on the day.

Meanwhile, Ana Martinez, producer of the Walk of Fame ceremonies, shared the following statement:

Star Wars fans will be over the moon that hearing their idol Mark Hamill is going to be honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. We are

Chalamet’s awards season marathon began more than a year ago at the Sundance Film Festival, where Call Me by Your Name, Luca Guadagnino’s Italy-set romantic drama in which Chalamet stars as an erudite teen experiencing his first love, premiered. 2018 Oscars presenters: ‘Wonder Woman’ Gal Gadot, ‘Star Wars’ cast led by Mark Hamill
Ten more names have been added to the list of presenters at this year’s Academy Awards. They are led by stars of two of the biggest movies of the year: Gal Gadot, who took on the title role in “Wonder Woman” and Mark Hamill, who headlined “Star Wars: The Last Jedi,” the latest installment in the franchise that launched his career more than four decades ago. Two of Hamill’s co-stars, Oscar Isaac and Kelly Marie Tran, are also slated to take to the stage of the Dolby Theater on March 4.

Among those also scheduled to present are Armie Hammer, who co-stars in the Best Picture nominee “Call Me By Your Name” and Tony and Grammy winner Lin-Manuel Miranda (“Hamilton”) who is featured in the upcoming “Mary Poppins Returns.” Also on the list are Gina Rodriguez, Wes Studi and Zendaya.

Perhaps most intriguing is the inclusion of 1954 Best Supporting Actress winner Eva Marie Saint.

Geoffrey Rush & Armie Hammer in Official Us Trailer for 'Final Portrait'

"Your whole life can be swallowed up..." Sony Pictures Classics has debuted a new official Us trailer for the film Final Portrait, which was one of my favorites from last year's Berlin Film Festival. Glad it's finally hitting Us theaters soon. The film stars Geoffrey Rush as accomplished Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti, an eccentric painter and sculptor who lived in Paris for the the last years of his life. The story is all about his friendship with an American journalist named James Lord, played by Armie Hammer, who visited in the 1960s. Giacometti asked Lord to sit down for a portrait, to be finished in only a few days, but it ends up going on and on for months - his final portrait. This also stars Clémence Poésy and Tony Shalhoub. I wrote in my review from last year's Berlinale: "Rush gives such an outstanding performance, it's compelling and thoroughly enjoyable to watch him.

Why Call Me By Your Name should win the 2018 best picture Oscar

Luca Guadagnino’s gorgeous coming-of-age tale oozes nostalgic melancholy and avoids the cliches in many films about gay love

Is Hollywood really changing? Or is just going through poses, like a self-conscious teenager at an outdoor disco in 1980s Italy? If Call Me By Your Name wins best picture at this year’s Academy Awards, we’ll have our answer.

Luca Guadagnino’s film tells the story of two young men falling in love, but it’s also an irresistible seduction in itself. One which began before the film’s official release, with a flirtatious clip of Armie Hammer dancing, and continues over the course of a long Italian summer. Like young grad student Oliver (Hammer) and Elio (Timothée Chalamet), the 17-year-old son of his professor-host, we contentedly while away the film’s running time, discussing art and politics in whichever European language feels right, going for long bike rides,

‘Call Me by Your Name’ House Goes Up for Sale

‘Call Me by Your Name’ House Goes Up for Sale
The house that serves as the central setting for Luca ’s Oscar-nominated “Call Me by Your Name” is up for sale.

The Perlman family home, located in Lombardy, Italy, is on the market for $2.7 million, according to a listing on Home & Loft. The property is where Elio and Oliver, played by Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer respectively, meet and fall in love in the movie.

The listing dates the construction of the villa around the 16th century. According to Elle Decor, the building, which has 14 bedrooms and seven bathrooms, was originally a fortress before it was converted into a home.

Guadagnino told the New York Times that he briefly considered buying the villa before he came across the “Call Me by Your Name” script. The movie includes interior shots of the rustic property, mainly the conjoined room Chalamet and Hammer’s characters share, as well as the grassy exterior where the men playfully flirt.

Wim Wenders Takes on Pope Francis in ‘A Man of His Word’ for Focus Features
Focus Features is jumping into documentaries in a big way. First they scooped up Morgan Neville’s Sundance breakout profile of Fred Rogers, “Won’t You Be My Neighbor?” for June release. Now they’re opening Wim Wenders’ latest documentary, “Pope Francis — A Man of His Word,” for May 18. (This date suggests a likely global debut at Cannes.)

Producer Alessandro Lo Monaco worked closely with the Vatican on Gianfranco Pannone’s documentary about the Vatican’s Swiss Guard. The Vatican approached him about co-producing a documentary about the outspoken Pope Francis, who seeks to communicate directly with the people. Lo Monaco turned to three-time Oscar nominee Wim Wenders (“Buena Vista Social Club,” “Pina,” and “Salt of the Earth”).

When world sales agent Cinetic Media brought together “A Man of His Word” and Focus Features, chairman Peter Kujawski jumped on board. The documentary delves into the Pope’s relationship to his namesake,
