An accomplished actor, musician, and award winning young filmmaker, Matthew J. Evans was born in San Luis Obispo, CA. He made his theatrical debut at the age of 4 and began working in film and TV when he was age 9. In 2011, Matthew played Garrett Tiara opposite Cameron Diaz in Columbia Pictures feature comedy "Bad Teacher" for which he received a Young Artist Award.

Matthew sings, plays guitar, and electric bass. He has produced and edited three documentary short films and has received numerous awards for his work.

In 2009, he won 1st place in the middle school division of the Filmmakers of Tomorrow competition at the San Luis Obispo International Film Festival for his documentary short film "Staying Spry".
In 2010 Matthew produced and directed a short film called "A War Story, A Love Story" which won Best Documentary and Best in Festival at Interlochen Future of Cinema International Film Festival. The film also won Best Documentary Short Film in the high school division of the San Luis Obispo Filmmakers of Tomorrow International Film Festival.
In 2011 Matthew produced and directed a documentary short film called "Poetic Justice Project", which won Best Student Documentary at the Spirit Quest Film Festival in Pennsylvania. Matthew was also awarded Best Young Filmmaker at the Northwest Ohio Independent Film Festival and Best Young Filmmaker Documentary Short at the Red Rock Film Festival in Utah. The film was also chosen as finalist at the Newport Beach Film Festival in California.
In 2012 Matthew produced and directed a documentary short film called "A Quest For Peace: Nonviolence Among Religions" featuring interviews with Arun Gandhi, grandson of Mahatma Gandhi. The film won Best Short Film at the Doc Miami Film Festival, Best Youth Short Film at the Jax Film Festival in Jacksonville, Fl. and received an Award of Merit at the Accolade Film Competition in Los Angeles.
Has studied under acclaimed booking coach Amy Lyndon.
