Sony Weekly Update (Mar. 4-10)

6 March 2010 3:28 PM, PST | GameRant | See recent GameRant news »

This is a great week for content on both the Psn as well as retail shelves.

This Tuesday, one of the most highly anticipated titles of the year will hit your local game-seller. Final Fantasy Xiii may have received a few mixed review out the gate in Japan but has steadily built a core group of supporters who are heralding the title along side other fan-favorite installments to the franchise. PS3 owners will also get the definitive Final Fantasy Xiii experience which runs at full 1080p on a single Blu-ray disc as opposed to the lower resolution, 3-Disc DVD set Xbox players will receive.

In addition to retail content, Sony has released a number of great Dlc add-ons for several titles you already have sitting at home: Resident Evil 5: Desperate Escape, as well as LittleBigPlanet content for the PSP, definitely top the list.

New Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition Trailer and Screens

23 January 2010 10:20 AM, PST | HugAZombie | See recent HugAZombie news »

As usual, Capcom is making their Dlc for Resident Evil 5 nice and confusing.

News of Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition came from last year's Tokyo Game Show, where the announcement said the game would not only include new content (a campaign featuring Jill Valentine and Chris Redfield), but would also support Sony's new Motion Wand Controller.  However, Sony has delayed its motion wand until the fall, yet, according to Capcom, this won't mean that the Resident Evil 5: Alternative Edition will be delayed as well.

Capcom has not announced any compatibility between Sony's motion controller and Resident Evil 5 in North America. The release of this product will be unaffected by the delay in our territory and is still on track for a March 9 release with the individual pieces of downloadable content released prior.

Oh, I see, so the game won't support Sony's motion wand, or, at least, not yet anyway. »

New Playable Character and New Moves in Resident Evil 5

21 January 2010 8:18 PM, PST | GameRant | See recent GameRant news »

As you’ve probably have guessed from seeing the picture above, the new playable character in Resident Evil 5: Gold Edition is the CEO of Tricell, Excella Gionne (Hooty McBoob as I like to call her). Excella will be strapping on the old sports bra and will be a playable character only in the game’s “Mercenaries Reunion” mode. Although she may not look like a fighter, Capcom promises Excella is more than just a pretty face.

Don’t let Excella’s looks deceive you.  Extreme mercilessness contrasts with her beauty.  With a strong fighting instinct backed up by superior martial art skills, Ms. Gionne can hold her own against any Majini attack!

For those of you that don’t know, the Mercenaries mode in Resident Evil 5 was a Survival Mode in which you and a friend could take on a seemingly endless wave of Infected. Mercenaries Reunion will most »
