For huge fans of Strictly Come Dancing, it's a once in a lifetime opportunity.

For the first time in the show's history, people who aren't soap stars or singers are being given the chance to pull on the sequins and partner with a Strictly professional, performing in the ballroom in front of millions - all in the name of charity.

11,000 people applied to take part in The People's Strictly for Comic Relief, but only these six were chosen...

1. Trishna Bharadia & Aljaz Scorjanec

Age: 35

From: Buckinghamshire

Trishna, who is a Multiple Sclerosis and disability fundraiser, tells DS that she loves Strictly Come Dancing. She has the programme on series record, and watches the show every week with her sister.

"We'll always try and guess what the judges' scores are going to be and all of that stuff," she explains.

And she's a "big" fan of her partner Aljaz, who she'll be dancing a jive with. »

The news comes after the BBC unveiled the six people who will be taking part in the show as a reward for their "tireless and selfless work which has helped change so many lives for the better".

They are Phillip Barnett, Trishna Bharadia, Anna Kennedy OBE, Cassidy Little, Heather Parsons and Michael Pattie - although details of which pro will be paired with which contestant have not yet been revealed.
