Happy Endings, Season 3, Episode 7: “No-Ho-Ho”

Written by Prentice Penny

Directed by Michael Patrick Jann

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on ABC

Busted!!! At least Jane is, when she hands over her ID to the waiter and a new revelation is revealed- Jane has been lying about her age for the past several years, even going as far as having her driver’s license changed so that it would match up with her lie. So when is her birthday? And why did she lie about it? Because she’s a Christmas baby and she was upset and tired of sharing her birthday with the holiday. Which sets up how the gang is going to change the way Jane feels about Christmas and her birthday.

The start of the episode brings in quite a bit more laughs than the entire previous episode, especially when the gang surprises Jane and she ends »

'Happy Endings': Jane Has A Christmas Birthday

19 December 2012 12:17 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Jane revealed a secret dating back to her childhood on the holiday episode of "Happy Endings." She's a Christmas baby! Unhappy with having to share her birthday with the biggest of holidays, she arbitrarily changed it to July 16, and then lied about it for years.

The gang decided to gift her with making December 25, 2012 "Jane-mas" instead of Christmas. For once, she would have her true birthday not be about anything other than her. At least, that was their intention.

Things got off to a rough start, though, when they surprised her in the morning in the apartment. Lesson learned: Never surprise Jane. She pepper-sprayed the entire gang thoroughly.

It was another laugh-filled installment of "the little engine that could," as Eliza Coupe, who plays Jane, told The Hollywood Reporter. Despite the show being scheduled to depart ABC's schedule in March 2013, Coupe seems confident that the full 22-episode season will get on the air. »

'Happy Endings': Eliza Coupe Talks Stolen Birthday Thunder, Pinterest Rejection

18 December 2012 10:31 AM, PST | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

The controlling and often Ocd heart of Happy Endings, it shouldn't come as much of a surprise that Jane (Eliza Coupe) is the kind of person who might fake her own birthday. Tuesday's Christmas episode of the ABC comedy ("No Ho Ho") reveals that the character reluctantly shares her real big day with the baby Jesus. And in an attempt to give her a proper celebration, the gang overcompensates by trying erase all signs of the holiday... quite unsuccessfully. Happy Endings, Ep. 3.06, “To Serb with Love”: “Seriously! You’re the rozziest!”

Happy Endings, Season 3, Episode 6: “To Serb with Love”

Written by Jonathan Groff & Brian Gallivan

Directed by Victor Nelli Jr.

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on ABC

First off, let’s talk about Alex and Dave’s corn typewriter. Good for Brad on guessing it and props to Dave for letting Alex cut loose. “The original foursome is back together! Roll Call!” Sadly for Max, he is excluded in Jane, Brad, Alex, and Dave’s foursome. He totally gets fifth wheeled, eventually getting shoved off the bench when Penny shows up with her new man, Pete, and informed by the group what character from popular television shows he would be. We need to pause and give props to the writers, again, for continuing a story arc from a previous episode. After the initial opening, the group of six split into their respective storylines, the “original foursome” together with Penny and »

Damon Wayans Jr. Is 'Thoroughly Offended' By 'Happy Endings' Cast Rumors

19 November 2012 11:45 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Being part of the cast of "Happy Endings" (Tuesdays at 9 p.m. Et on ABC) doesn't seem like a shabby gig. Not only does the plot get consistently more hilarious, but the show's actors -- Eliza Coupe, Elisha Cuthbert, Zachary Knighton, Damon Wayans Jr., Casey Wilson and Adam Pally -- play off each other perfectly and look like they're having a blast.

In honor of his celebration of America Recycles Day, Wayans Jr., who plays Brad on the ABC comedy, took a few minutes to talk to HuffPost TV via phone to discuss working with the "Happy Endings" cast, leaving "New Girl" behind and to bust a few rumors.

I'm loving this season of "Happy Endings" so far, and I know there's been talk of Jane's lesbian lover coming to town. How do you think Brad will react to all of that?

I think Brad will be thrown, but then intrigued, »

Happy Endings, Season 3, Episode 2: “Sabado Free-Gante”

Written by Josh Bycel and Jonathan Fener

Directed by Stuart McDonald

Airs Tuesdays at 9pm (Et) on ABC

Who wants to go as the Jackson 5 Marionette? Yeah, that would be the award winning costume that our six abnormally weird friends go as for Halloween this year on Happy Endings. After the first few seconds of the opening, we can tell that this episode is going to be a lot funnier than last week’s premiere. Dave dressed up as Latoya, alone, is hysterical. And it brings forth the quick witted, crazy lines that we are used to, “Why you got to be so stupid, Latoya?!” “Look the beer’s all over Latoya’s beard!”

The second episode of the season definitely doesn’t disappoint. We see each of the six splitting into pairs for three separate storylines: Penny and Jane buying a car, »

Happy Endings Season 2 DVD Giveaway

26 October 2012 7:07 AM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

Well, you made it to the Season 3 premiere of your favorite show, and now you’re wishing you could go back to all the crazy moments of Season 2. And, you can.

Quickly becoming one of my favorites when it first premiered, and amazingly remaining in my top picks ever since, Happy Endings delivers with every episode.

One of those very rare efforts that pushes the boundaries of being too hip and too quick-paced for its own good, while still managing to ground its wackiness, its a show that actually propelled itself into something better than you expected after moving beyond its gimmick.

Not only is this a great, still somewhat undervalued comedy, but it’s one of the few shows I can actually watch repeatedly.

Unfortunately, the DVD release is not exactly loaded with bonuses, but this is one where that shouldn’t be too much of a drawback for most fans. »

Good morning!

Rachel Maddow went on The Late Show last night to discuss the election. Here are two clips.

And she also went on Katie yesterday to talk about the debate — again.

Speaking of Rachel, Go On had another hilarious incident with her last night. You can watch the whole episode on NBC.com.

You guys, I love Happy Endings but I'm nervous about Jane's ex-girlfriend coming to town. Here's what Eliza Coupe said about the storyline:

I've never met her before, and I'm excited to shoot that. I think it's hilarious, because Jane definitely dabbled in a same-sex situation, so it's not that unexpected. We'll get to hear about how crazy she was in art school. She was just like, Whoever, whatever, and it would get dark and gross and weird. I could see her getting into animals. Maybe a bunny. That's kind of gross, »

"The Lucy Show" Remains a Benchmark of Comedienne History

23 October 2012 11:57 PM, PDT | JustPressPlay.net | See recent JustPressPlay news »

Though it’s popular to say women aren’t as funny as men even in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary (Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Eliza Coupe), that doesn’t erase the legacy of female comedians who bolstered TV sitcoms through the ages. Carol Burnett, Mary Tyler Moore, and Lucille Ball were stalwarts of comedy in their own days, and of them Ball might just be the queen of comediennes for all her films and television series, most of which remain beloved by fans of classic TV. A different animal than I Love Lucy and Here’s Lucy, The Lucy Show had a simple premise that made it easily adaptable for guests like Robert Goulet, Frankie Avalon, Milton Perle, Jack Benny, Sid Caesar and other showbiz greats to come on and have a laugh, often at their own expense. The sixth and final season takes full advantage of this, »

The Top 10 Supporting Characters On TV Now (And the 5 Best From Series On Hiatus)

By Rachel Bennett

Television Editor & Columnist

Of all the top 10 lists I compiled so far, this one is undoubtedly the most difficult for me.

Choosing the best supporting characters on TV is not an easy task because there are too many fantastic second-hand roles out there. Writers no longer just focus on the lead. Instead, they’re learning to flesh out the supporting players to make series even better, and in several cases, these parts and the actors who fill them steal every scene.

This list, however, is more about the characters than the actors — these roles are already so colorful on the page that you can’t ignore them.

But as I said, I stressed over this list, so I couldn’t limit it to just 10. Here are the 10 best characters on TV right now and the five best from series on hiatus:

'Happy Endings': 6 things to know about Season 3

23 October 2012 4:26 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

Oh, happy, happy day: "Happy Endings," ABC's smart, hilarious comedy, finally returns tonight (Oct. 23).

Zap2it recently visited the "Happy" set and picked up some major scoop about what our favorite sextet are up to this season. (Besides general awesomeness , of course.)

1. Dave (Zachary Knighton) and Alex (Elisha Cuthbert) are seriously back together. Oh sure, they're telling everyone they're keeping it "cazsh," but the couple actually plan to cohabitate. Expect much hilarity to ensue when they go house-hunting with a crazy realtor (Rachael Harris). "I think you're learning how dumb these two people can be with each other," Knighton tells us. "Two dumb things come together in a Voltron of stupidity."

2. Penny lands a boyfriend. This might finally be Penny's (Casey Wilson) year! Once she's out of the full-body cast (which you'll see in tonight's episode) for which she can only partially blame boyfriend Chris (Brian Austin Green), she meets »

Eliza Coupe Opens Up About Jane's Lesbian Past On 'Happy Endings'

Mark Paul-Gosselaar and Rob Corddry aren't the only reasons to get excited about "Happy Endings" this season.

Jane's ex-lover, played by Briga Heelan, is headed to town.

"I think it's hilarious, because Jane definitely dabbled in a same-sex situation, so it's not that unexpected," Eliza Coupe, who plays Jane, told Vulture. "We'll get to hear about how crazy she was in art school ... I think the writers have done a great job of exploring the inner workings of Jane, why she is the way she is, how she is the way she is. I love her competitive nature."

According to TVLine, the arrival Heelan's arrival will make Jane's husband Brad (Damon Wayans Jr.) uncomfortable. Let the drama begin!

Tonight ABC’s Tuesday night prime time line up just got a whole lot funnier with the return of Happy Endings for its third season.
