'Pan' Release Date Moves to Avoid Marvel's 'Ant-Man'

10 December 2014 12:52 PM, PST | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Guardians of the Galaxy proved that the Marvel brand name is bigger than any of the titles the studio plans to release in the future, with this relatively unknown comic book adaption going onto become the biggest release of 2014. Other studios are well aware that any movie arriving under the Marvel umbrella will surely be a box office success. Especially Warner Bros., who moved their Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to get out of the way of Captain America: Civil War earlier this year. Now, they are shifting the release date of another movie, moving their Peter Pan reboot to get it out of the way of the incoming Ant-Man.

Both Ant-Man and Pan were set to be released on July 17th. Ant-Man will now enjoy this summer weekend to itself, while Pan moves to the far more crowded weekend of July 24th. There, it will face off against Sony's video game adventure Pixels, »

Spectacular Trailer for Pan with Hugh Jackman and Rooney Mara

25 November 2014 10:01 AM, PST | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

Director Joe Wright's Peter Pan inspired film, Pan, looks absolutely incredible. We've got the first full trailer to share with you today, and it's really quite magical. This could possibly be the best live-action adaptation of Peter Pan yet. The trailer shows off some very vibrant visuals and impressive looking set-pieces. I have to say, Hugh Jackman looks kind of terrifying as Blackbeard. I wasn't really sure what to expect from this movie, but after having watched this trailer I'm expecting great things!

Offering a new take on the origin of the classic characters created by J.M. Barrie, the action adventure follows the story of an orphan who is spirited away to the magical Neverland. There, he finds both fun and dangers, and ultimately discovers his destiny—to become the hero who will be forever known as Peter Pan.

Yeah, it's an origin story, but it's an origin story that looks damn good! »

Hugh Jackman menaces Peter Pan and Hook in new 'Pan' trailer

25 November 2014 9:24 AM, PST | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Let the battle of the trailers begin. Just minutes after the highly-anticipated first look at "Jurassic World" roared to life, and with "Star Wars" trailer news still hanging in the air, Warner Bros. has unleashed the first trailer for "Pan," their upcoming re-imagining of the origin of Peter Pan. The clip gives fans their first real look at the the cast in their elaborate costumes and director Joe Wright's vision of the oft-depcited Neverland. It begins with Peter (Levi Miller) as just another Dickensian orphan struggling against the system, before he's soon swept off to Neverland where he becomes allies with a very caucasian Tiger Lily (Rooney Mara) and a young Hook (not yet a Captain), played by Garrett Hedlund. They'll soon do battle with the nefarious pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman), who seems to be enjoying the gig. Colorful and upbeat, it actually looks a lot like Spielberg's much-maligned "Hook. »

First Pan Trailer Reveals Joe Wright’s Reimagining of the Classic Story Featuring Hugh Jackman

25 November 2014 9:20 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Warner Bros. has released the first Pan trailer for director Joe Wright’s (Hanna) reimagining of the classic J.M. Barrie story Peter Pan.  The film finds newcomer Levi Miller’s young Pan, along with other young wartime orphans, being kidnapped by the men of the dreaded pirate Blackbeard (Hugh Jackman), thus beginning a series of adventures in Neverland that shape the boy into the hero known to generations as Peter Pan.  I think Wright is a talented director, but it looks like he made a prequel to Hook. I couldn't help but laugh at the part in the trailer when kids from the Oliver Twist Home for Orphan Boys are abducted onto a flying ship.  "What happened to Peter?"  "He was kidnapped by Cirque du Soleil." Check out the first Pan trailer after the jump.  The film also stars Garrett Hedlund as Hook, Rooney Mara as Tiger Lily, Amanda Seyfried as Mary, »

Hugh Jackman Unveiled as Blackbeard in First 'Pan' Photos

Warner Bros. has released the first photos from their upcoming adventure Pan, which offers our first look at Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard and Levi Miller as young Peter Pan.

Filmmaker Joe Wright has altered J.M. Barrie's classic Peter Pan story, which follows the villainous Blackbeard. His nefarious crew has been kidnapping orphans, including the title character. Garrett Hedlund also stars as a young Captain Hook, who is not yet a captain and does not have a hook for a hand. He is described as a "dashing Indiana Jones-like figure."

Here's what director Joe Wright had to say in a brief statement about the Pan story line.

"This isn't exactly the Neverland story you know."

It isn't known when fans can expect the first trailer, but with the July 17, 2015 release date inching closer and closer, we may see the first footage sooner rather than later. Take a look at these »

First Pan Images Show a Screaming Hugh Jackman as Blackbeard in Joe Wright’s Peter Pan Prequel [Updated with New Posters]

24 November 2014 8:19 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

We're almost at the end of 2014, which means we're long overdue when it comes to marketing the movies of summer 2015.  Today, Warner Bros. has released the first Pan images along with what's sure to be the first of 197 character posters. The film "tells the untold story of how a young orphan boy from London is spirited away to the magical Neverland where he finds great adventures that shape him into the hero known to generations as Peter Pan."  These images show us not only Levi Miller as Pan, but also Hugh Jackman as the villainous Blackbeard, and um…well…yeah.  None of these images are too encouraging, but I have faith in director Joe Wright.  While he does have a tendency to go overboard in his staging and visuals, his past work promises we're not going to get a run-of-the-mill Peter Pan story even though I was never all that »

Aesthetica Short Film Festival 2014 – Friday Roundup

9 November 2014 3:00 AM, PST | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

The last time I attended Aesthetica, I was a volunteer and didn’t get to see all that many films. The only complete screening I managed to view was at the venue I was manning; unfortunately, that screening was full of pretentious and acutely inaccessible experimental films, so I didn’t have all that great a time with them. Thankfully I managed to catch a handful of others and enjoyed the atmosphere of having a pop-up film festival in (my then adopted city) York so much that it washed the wankery right out of my mouth. Wait, that doesn’t sound–

Anyway, I’m back – and purely as an audience member this time. My first day at Asff was a great taster of many different kinds of films, though of course with an event of this size (showing over 300 films over three and a half days) I was always going »
