The Notable Films of 2010: Part Six

27 December 2009 10:09 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

The Last Airbender

Opens: July 2nd 2010

Cast: Noah Ringer, Nicola Peltz, Jackson Rathbone, Dev Patel

Director: M. Night Shyamalan

Summary: A live-action film based on the Nickelodeon animated TV series. In a fantastic world where civilisation exists as four great empires, a reluctant young child sets out on a perilous journey to restore balance to a world torn apart by war.

Analysis: It has been quite the decade for M. Night Shyamalan, who started it as a household name with the label of a modern-day Hitchcock thanks to the likes of "The Sixth Sense" and "Signs". Today he's considered more of a one-trick pony and in some cases a punchline due to rampant stories of egomania run wild and a series of much derided onscreen flops like "Lady in the Water" and "The Happening".

Thus 'Airbender' marks a potential return to form for the helmer. An adaptation of the hit »

21 October 2009 1:21 AM, PDT | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

Zac Efron along with other cast ensemble and crew for "Charlie St. Cloud" have celebrated the end of the movie's filming. On Monday night, October 19, the "High School Musical" hottie was seen attending the wrap party for the flick at Watermark Restaurant on Kits Beach in Vancouver, Canada.

Beside entering the venue, Zac spent some time to stop and pose for some pictures along with two of his female fans. During the night outing, the Vanessa Hudgens' boyfriend chose to don a black t-shirt that read "Hearthbreaker" paired with jeans and sneakers.

About the movie, "Charlie St. Cloud" revolves around Zac Efron's Charlie St. Cloud, a cemetery caretaker who has weekly meetings with his late younger brother, Charlie Tahan's Sam. Following the death of his sibling, Charlie begins blaming himself on causing the accident.

Later, Charlie meets a young woman named Tess Carroll, the character portrayed by Amanda Crew, »

Toronto 2009: "Up in the Air" Flies High

12 September 2009 8:23 AM, PDT | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

Four years ago, a friend of mine came home from Toronto disappointed by the premiere of "Elizabethtown," Cameron Crowe's ill-fated, deeply personal story of a man coming home to bury his father. The director of "Almost Famous" and "Jerry Maguire," Crowe was a true heir to Hal Ashby when it came to making melancholy and emotionally moving mainstream entertainments, yet when his cut of "Elizabethtown" (that was ultimately trimmed down in running time) failed to win over audiences here, it was hard to imagine when someone would attempt tp do so again.

"Up in the Air" will be easy to overpraise -- it touches on larger themes of mass unemployment, cultural alienation and technology as a crutch. But ultimately, it's really an expertly done character study that's a dramatic change of pace from director Jason Reitman's previous two films, "Thank You for Smoking" and "Juno," comedies that led »

Zac Efron was joined by his young costar Charlie Tahan earlier this morning on the Vancouver set of The Death And Life Of Charlie St Cloud. Leading man Zac went shirtless yet again, though this time around we didn't get a full frontal look at his chiseled abs. He's no longer in our Hottest Shirtless Guy contest, but we're still narrowing the final four down to two - so don't forget to cast your votes before the polls close at midnight! View 5 Photos › »

Tigers, Hurricanes and Briana Evigan in 'Burning Bright'!

25 February 2009 4:36 PM, PST | bloody-disgusting.com | See recent Bloody-Disgusting.com news »

One of my most anticipated films of 2009 is Lionsgates Burning Bright, which follows a 20-year-old and her autistic little brother who are trapped in a house with a ravenous tiger during a hurricane. I needed to know more, so got in touch with star Briana Evigan who talked in depth with B-d about her role in the film. Beyond the break you can read our extensive conversation, which does contain some spoilers. Buyer beware. A woman who wakes in the midst of a hurricane to find a tiger roaming through her home. With her stepfather nowhere to be found, she is forced to drag her autistic young brother through the house in a desperate attempt at survival. Briana Evigan, Garret Dillahunt, Charlie Tahan, Mary Rachel Dudley and Peggy Sheffield all star. »

Garret Dillahunt Talks Tigers and Burning Bright

19 February 2009 | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

One upcoming film sure to raise eyebrows based on concept alone is Burning Bright . In it, a young woman (Briana Evigan) and her autistic brother (Charlie Tahan) find themselves trapped in a house, during a hurricane with a hungry tiger. The man responsible? Blame actor Garrett Dillahunt. "Have you ever driven through the South like, 'Come to Johnny's Rattlesnake Pit!'? He's that guy and he's got a wild animal farm," the actor tells ShockTillYouDrop.com while promoting his upcoming film The Last House on the Left . That's just the set up. Why and how a tiger winds up locked away with Evigan shall remain a mystery for now. Dillahunt, however, said he had a blast on the film. "I like [director] Carlos Brooks, he did Quid Pro Quo . And Briana Evigan, »
