Wayward Pines Season 2 Episode 2 Review – ‘Blood Harvest’

6 June 2016 10:35 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Martin Carr reviews the second episode of Wayward Pines season 2…

I was wrong and admit it. Whatever my misgivings about last week’s opener things have changed down in Wayward Pines. That needless re-tread which constituted episode one, left no time for progression, proved noticeably useless and removed any tension with devastating efficiency. There was no time for Jason Patric to look anything but confused before credits rolled and Wayward Pines was no more. This week however things are different.

We the audience were treated to copious amounts of dramatic meat on the bone. Which included heavy gun fire, psychological stand offs and aberrational cadavers ago go. We got to see more of the unbalanced Jason fronting off against Patric’s Yedlin, who clearly was in no mood for games. Which in turn gave us a better understanding of character dynamics and more entertainment. It uncovered those who run the show to have blatant inadequacies, »

Wayward Pines Season 2 Episode 1 Review – ‘Enemy Lines’

30 May 2016 5:05 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Martin Carr reviews the first episode of Wayward Pines season 2…

There are a few problems following success. First thing is how to repeat that without copying beat for beat whatever came before. Your options are limited and involve calculated risk, plain risk or reinvention. From a network perspective the latter is a non-starter as it would mean capturing that lightening one more time, which unless you’re Chuck Lorre or Vince Gilligan is impossible. Option two is mix it up, as in back or forward in time and go prequel on its arse. This is your calculated risk which brings back familiar elements but introduces them differently. Think Back to the Future even though, if we’re honest, part three was always the weakest instalment.

Then we come to the option which showrunners have chosen with Wayward Pines for season two. That beat for beat, rehash, rejig, ridiculously lame reintroduction of the same old story. »

With season two of Wayward Pines set to get underway on Fox next Wednesday (May 25th), we caught up with composer Charlie Clouser of Nine Inch Nails fame to discuss his work on the score for the hit series, as well as getting our hands on an exclusive track from the season two premiere!

In a few words how would you describe your Wayward Pines Season 2 score?

For season two, the score for Wayward Pines plays a bit more to the conspiratorial side of things – more intrigue, more sinister plots afoot as various factions are vying for control of the town’s destiny. That aspect of the story line gets kind of restrained tension approach to the music. Outside the fence, things also are getting a little more hairy with the Abbies, as they are becoming bolder and encroaching on the safe perimeter of the town, so there’s a »

2016 Tribeca Film Festival: NY Shorts Program

25 April 2016 5:17 AM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Of the many films the Tribeca Film Festival shows, one of the biggest categories that often gets overlooked is the shorts category. Shorts are most definitely much harder to make considering their limited screen time and the need to fit a whole story within that time. Taking that into consideration, the 2016 Tribeca Film Festival decided to split up its shorts submissions into various categories, including New York Now shorts program.

This array of shorts all contained some form of New York City within them, whether through history, character, story, or anything in between. There were seven shorts in the program, and they are as follows:

Mildred & The Dying Parlor: Directed by Alex Gayner, starring Zosia Mamet, Jane Krakowski, Steve Buscemi, and Evan Jonigkeit; about a family who runs a dying parlor out of their home until an unexpected visitor shows up. Wannabe: Directed by Matthew Manson, starring Malcolm-Jamal Warner, »

During a Wondercon 2016 roundtable for the second season of the Wayward Pines TV series on Fox, M.
