Director Morgan Spurlock has a talent for making insightful, engaging, and informative documentaries. Unfortunately, that talent is not in view for his latest film, Mansome. This movie is supposed to "explore the question: In the age of manscaping, metrosexuals, and grooming products galore -- what does it mean to be a man?" The answer, it would seem, is to be a vain, pompous, insecure stereotype.
The names Spurlock interviews for Mansome include Judd Apatow, Adam Carolla, Zach Galifianakis, Isaiah Mustafa, Paul Rudd, John Waters ... and as he likes to do, Spurlock himself gets in front of the camera briefly, to shave his mustache. The most interesting subjects are executive producers Will Arnett and Jason Bateman, who almost appear to be channeling their Arrested Development characters as they spend a day at a spa getting massages, facials and taking baths together.
The documentary starts with examining facial hair -- and seems »

With “The Avengers” sequel officially confirmed by Marvel/Disney, comic book fans the world over will be contemplating which of the publisher’s other heroes could be added to the line-up, potentially getting their own solo movie as soon as 2014 – filling the popularly acknowledged gap in the schedule alongside Captain America 2 that summer.
Of course, we have to bear in mind that Marvel Studios do not own the film rights to characters as key to their comic book universe as Daredevil, Spider-Man, Wolverine or the Fantastic Four – all of whom have allied with or become members of the Avengers at one time or another – but with that consideration in place, here is another suggestion for Marvel’s Next Avengers Film:
Power Man (Luke Cage) and Iron Fist (Daniel Rand)
Why?: Because they are an awesome pairing and, whilst both characters could easily sustain their own solo movie, a »

What makes a man shave his chest? Sport a hirsute, ridiculously long and absurd-looking beard? Bleach his anus, thread his eyebrows or play around with his facial hair in any number of manscaping ways? These are some of the questions posed in Morgan Spurlock's latest cheery and congenial documentary, "Mansome."
And the music in Spurlock's documentaries of late are always a dead give-away of what's in store tone-wise (in case it’s not obvious): generally a jovial, breezy and blithe ol' time for what's usually an 80-minute trifle. And "Mansome," the documentarian’s latest, is an amiable look at male grooming, and therefore as a byproduct, masculinity too (though it's not a focus), and it falls safely and neatly into a pleasant tone.
Executive-produced by "Arrested Development" buddies Jason Bateman and Will Arnett, the doc frames itself around these two friends going to a spa and comically discussing »

Well hello ladies.
With the Old Spice guy (a.k.a. Isaiah Mustafa) seemingly moving along in his career, there's a void in the hunky ad guy world. But thanks to the folks at Sauza Tequila, that problem won't be going on for long.
The company has just introduced a two-minute web ad called "Make it with a Fireman" featuring actor/model Thomas Beaudoin. Now before you get the wrong idea, this has to do with making a perfect margarita.
"Being a fireman is more than putting out blazes and giving kittens CPR," Beaudoin says while in character. "Sometimes my duty demands I fan the flames. Like when a lady calls in demanding immediate assistance." He then goes on to provide step-by-shirtless step instructions on how to make the tasty beverage.
Since the commercial went up on YouTube on April 16, the video has been viewed nearly 700,000 times. While people might »

Eddie McClintock photographed by Clinton Gaughran for AfterElton
It's no secret that we're big fans of Eddie McClintock around here. The sexy star of Warehouse 13 has not one, not two, but three photo galleries on our Facebook page, and had us tuning in to the show long before they ever introduced a gay character last year. The former wrestler from Ohio is loudly pro-equality, with a wicked sense of humor that comes from a genuine place in his heart. He recently spoke with me about the show, playing gay on Felicity, growing up in the Midwest, his family, and the created family he now has on Warehouse 13. He even invited us into his home for a revealing photo shoot. This is obviously the beginning of my campaign to have him in our Hot 100 this year.

Morgan Spurlock's new documentary Mansome finds folks like Zach Galifianakis, Paul Rudd, Will Arnett, and Jason Bateman exploring rituals of manliness and asking questions to find out what it takes to make a man a man. Dishing up all the beards, mustaches, back waxing, and other manscaping moments you could ever possibly want, the film's look at men and their grooming habits promises to hilariously define masculinity in the 21st century. The Old Spice guy (Isaiah Mustafa) shows up for good measure. Look for Mansome in theaters starting May 18. Daniel Schechter's "masculine romantic comedy" Supporting Characters follows film editing duo and close pals Nick (Alex Karpovsky) and Daryyl (Tarike Lowe — who co-wrote the film with Schechter) who are hired...

Comic book fans are enjoying a pop cultural revolution with the onslaught of mainstream comic book movies, in particular from that old house of ideas - Marvel. Across the past 5 years we have seen Spider-Man, the X-Men, Hulk, Punisher, Iron Man, the Fantastic Four, Thor and Captain America all make the leap from the printed page to the silver screen.
Marvel’s slate of movies comes to its first filmic climax when a host of the Hollywood-ised Heroes band together for Joss Whedon‘s the Avengers in May this year. Hot on its heels are already announced sequels to Iron Man, Thor, Spider-Man, Captain America, Wolverine again, rumours of another Fantastic Four… hang on. We’ve already seen this bunch before. In some cases too much (anyone remember X-Men 3?).
I don’t know about you, but I want to see something new. Something different. Marvel has literally hundreds of franchise-able »

Eve rearing to go and cause some major hurt. He wants to find Gabriella too. "Once upon a time there were three young women who got into very big trouble. Now they work for me. My name is Charlie."
