Antoine Fuqua circling Scarface remake

11 August 2016 4:20 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

It looks like director Antoine Fuqua could be moving from one remake to the next, with Deadline reporting that The Magnificent Seven director is in talks with Universal about boarding the studio’s new take on Scarface.

The new Scarface has been written by Jonathan Herman, from earlier drafts by Paul Attanasio and David Ayer, and will incorporate the immigrant rags-to-riches story of the 1932 original and 1983 remake, albeit in a contemporary Los Angeles setting.

Fuqua’s next film The Magnificent Seven is set to open in September, and features an all-star cast that includes Denzel Washington, Chris Pratt, Ethan Hawke, Vincent D’Onofrio, Haley Bennett and Peter Sarsgaard.

Emily Blunt Goes Off the Rails in ‘The Girl on the Train’ Trailer

19 July 2016 2:30 PM, PDT | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

Isn’t it about time we had another buzzy thriller novel adapted for the big screen? Particularly one starring the sensational Emily Blunt? After the success of Gillian Flynn’s “Gone Girl,” directed by David Fincher and starring Ben Affleck and an Oscar-nominated Rosamund Pike, audiences are surely thirsting for another bone-chilling story of adultery, deceit, and unreliable narrators. Enter “The Girl on the Train,” Paula Hawkins’ best-selling erotic mystery novel about an alcoholic commuter who becomes obsessed with a couple she sees every day through a train window—and then embroiled in their affairs after a mysterious disappearance. With a screenplay adaptation by Erin Cressida Wilson (“Secretary”) and direction from Tate Taylor (“The Help”), “The Girl on the Train” stars Blunt as Rachel, the alcohol-abusing divorcée struggling to come to grips with her husband Tom’s (Justin Theroux) new life with Anna (Rebecca Ferguson). An Unnecessarily In-Depth Analysis of The Magnificent Seven Trailer

19 July 2016 10:46 AM, PDT | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

The remake of a remake.Don’t worry, I counted. There‘s seven.

Westerns always put an extra giddy-up in my canter. It’s easily the most enjoyable genre of film for me. I think it has something to do with manly men doing manly men things. You know, like twirling a six-shooter around the shooting finger and placing it perfectly in its holster without even looking. I can’t even put my phone in my pocket without dropping it at least four times a day, easy. The Magnificent Seven — based on the 1960 film of the same name which was based on Seven Samurai — just had its second trailer released, which is of the more official variety and less the teaser kind. Take a little break from reading and watch it in all its magnificence:

New trailer and poster for ‘The Girl On The Train’ arrive online

19 July 2016 12:45 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

A new poster and, more importantly, a new trailer for the upcoming film adaptation Paula Hawkins‘ novel The Girl On The Train, have arrived online. The film will debut in cinemas this October, starring Emily Blunt, Rebecca Ferguson, Haley Bennett, Justin Theroux, Luke Evans, Allison Janney, Edgar Ramirez, Lisa Kudrow and Laura Prepon.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life-as she sees it-is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed. »

Watch: Second Trailer for 'The Girl on the Train' Starring Emily Blunt

18 July 2016 3:55 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

Universal has debuted a new trailer for the adaptation of the book The Girl on the Train, starring Emily Blunt as "the girl on the train". Blunt plays Rachel, a woman living her life after divorce, taking the train every day to and from work. One day watching a family a few houses down from where her ex-husband lives, she notices something weird. The next day Rachel wakes up and hears that another woman went missing and becomes invested in trying to find out what happened to Megan, where she went, and what exactly she herself was up to that same night Megan went missing. The ensemble cast includes Haley Bennett, Luke Evans, Rebecca Ferguson, Laura Prepon, Edgar Ramírez, Allison Janney, Justin Theroux and Lisa Kudrow. This is an improvement over the first trailer, but I'm still not sure it'll be any good. Enjoy. Here's the second official trailer (+ poster »

Emily Blunt Loses Her Mind in New ‘Girl on the Train’ Trailer

18 July 2016 1:28 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Emily Blunt is front and center in Universal’s new trailer for the mystery “The Girl on the Train,” as her character’s post-divorce life slowly disintegrates.

The trailer starts with her character Rachel talking about how she had watched a perfect couple from the train — “They were the embodiment of true love.”

It ends with her being questioned by Allison Janney’s detective character about whether she committed a murder of her ex-husband’s nanny, Megan Hipwell (played by Haley Bennett).

The trailer makes no effort to resolve the mystery. It introduces Justin Theroux who stars as Rachel’s ex-husband.

Luke Evans plays Megan’s husband. The new trailer is set to Kanye West’s “Heartless.”

The Girl on the Train,” adapted from Paula Hawkins’ best-seller and directed by Tate Taylor, hits theaters on Oct. 7.
