11 October 2016 8:42 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Best known for her role on Comedy Central's Broad City, Abbi Jacobson is about to get very serious in the new Netflix drama 6 Balloons. She will appear alongside Dave Franco in the lead. The rest of the ensemble cast includes Jane Kaczmarek and Tim Matheson. There is no set launch date at this time.

Deadline reports that the drama series will delve deep into the subject of upper-middle class heroin addiction. The script is coming from Marja-Lewis Ryan. She will also direct. The synopsis reads as such.

"The drama unfolds on July 4, as Katie (Jacobson) discovers her brother Seth (Franco) has relapsed on heroin while his two-year old daughter is in his care."

That sounds pretty heavy, especially with Abbi Jacobson in the lead, as she has become known for her comedic talents. Campfire's Samantha Housman and Ross Dinerstein will produce alongside Free Association's Channing Tatum, Reid Carolin and Peter Kiernan. »
