The indie horror film we've been keeping tabs on - Ritual - made its presence known at the American Film Market and a new sales poster was cooked up to entice buyers.

Directed and written by Mickey Keating, the film stars Derek Phillips, Lisa Summerscales and Dean Cates.

Along with the aforementioned poster, a new synopsis...read on: Tom Moses steps into a nightmare when he discovers that his estranged wife, Lovely, has brutally killed a man in one of the cramped, decaying rooms of a sleazy South Texas motel. Against his better judgement, Tom agrees to help and it is not long before he finds a video camera in the trunk of the dead man’s car. He and Lovely watch as a horrifying image crackles to life: a group of individuals, shrouded in robes and disguised in skull masks, ritualistically sacrifice a helpless girl. A brand new one-sheet has come our way for for Mickey Keating's latest indie terror tale Ritual starring Leigh Whannell (Saw, Insidious) and Derek Phillips (“Friday Night Lights”). Read on to check it out!

Synopsis

The radio blares a 24-hour Halloween Weekend Fright Fest as Tom Moses drives deeper and deeper into the desert. He arrives at a sleazy motel, where his wife, Lovely, informs him through the locked door that something terrible has happened. He persuades her to let him inside and discovers a man slumped against the wall on the other side of the room, stabbed to death.

A new teaser poster has been released for the indie horror film Ritual, written and directed by Mickey Keating.  You'll find a larger version of the art you see to the left inside.

Lisa Summerscales and Dean Cates play a husband and wife who have a dead occult member on their hands.  With the clock ticking, they attempt to figure out what to do with the body before the rest of his pals show up.  

Leigh Whannell (Saw) and Derek Phillips (Friday Night Lights) co-star.  Eric B. Fleischman and Chelsea Peters are producing.

Leigh Whannell, Derek Phillips Get In On the Ritual

Shooting begins later this month on the indie horror film Ritual and Shock Till You Drop has learned Leigh Whannell and Derek Phillips have joined the cast.

Whannell is best known as the writer of Saw and Insidious; he also co-starred in both films.  Phillips, meanwhile, had a long run on Friday Night Lights as Billy Riggins.

In June, we revealed Lisa Summerscales and Dean Cates will take on starring roles in Ritual.

Written and directed by Mickey Keating, the film finds the two playing a husband and wife who have a dead occult member on their hands.  With the clock ticking, they attempt to figure out what to do with the body before the rest of his pals show up.

Former Fnl boss and current Parenthood showrunner Jason Katims has recruited Dillon grad Matt Lauria to join the NBC drama in a major recurring role for Season 4, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Lauria, whose post-Fnl roles have included Fox’s cop drama Chicago Code and an arc on CSI, will play a returning soldier from Afghanistan who bonds with fellow war vet Zeek (Craig T. Nelson). Coincidentally, Lauria’s Fnl character, Luke, enlisted in the army in the show’s series finale. »
