New Photos From Pacific Rim Uprising Tease a Jaeger Vs. Jaeger Showdown

Thanks to Total Film, we have a few new images to share with you for Pacific Rim Uprising along with their magazine cover. One interesting thing that the photo above points out is that the Jaegers won't just be fighting giant Kaiju monsters... they'll be fighting each other. Why? I have no idea. Maybe there's another group with Jaegers that want to protect and help the Kaiju. Regardless of why we will see some Jaeger vs. Jaeger action, it's going to be a lot of fun watching them fight!

Guillermo del Toro on his level of involvement with Pacific Rim Uprising

With the Pacific Rim Uprising on the horizon, and the first trailer officially releasing, it’s natural to wonder what could have been with this franchise. After all, the series was originally Guillermo del Toro’s pet-project, and has since undergone some significant changes.

Now, Guillermo del Toro has talked about his original plans for the sequel previously, and recently, while talking to Kcwr, the director was asked if he’s involved in Pacific Rim Uprising in any way, shape, or form. This was his response:

“I prepped my version of Pacific Rim 2. I developed the screenplay, I storyboarded the creatures and the robots on that, and then that suspension of six months … I left, and helped select the new director, and that’s about it.”

Honestly, it’s pretty evident that del Toro has had little to do with Pacific Rim Uprising. Watching the trailer, the film feels far

Movie Biz Banking on Big Franchises (Again) in 2018 to Reverse Box Office Slump

Movie Biz Banking on Big Franchises (Again) in 2018 to Reverse Box Office Slump
At a time when the movie business is undergoing a massive disruption, an early glance at the 2018 schedule looks like there will be plenty of strong reasons for moviegoers to leave home in the next year — maybe even in August, which was a box office wasteland in 2017.

The best bets include four powerful franchise films opening in May and June — “Avengers: Infinity War,” “Solo: A Star Wars Story,” “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom,” and “Deadpool 2” — along with intriguing new properties such as “Red Sparrow,” “Black Panther,” “A Wrinkle in Time,” “Venom” and “Aquaman.” Franchise films abound, including “Fifty Shades Freed,” “The Incredibles 2,” “Mission: Impossible 6” and “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Gindelwald.”

Paul Dergarabedian, senior media analyst with comScore, said the upcoming May-June corridor is reminiscent of the same period of 2015, when “Avengers: Age of Ultron,” “Inside Out” and “Jurassic World” all became blockbusters.

“The early summer of 2018 is packed but having a franchise is no guarantee of success

How Guillermo del Toro’s version of Pacific Rim 2 was originally going to end

The sequel to Guillermo del Toro’s 2013 mecha-kaiju-brawler Pacific Rim has come a long way from its humble beginnings. The movie was originally helmed by Del Toro until he ultimately decided to step down. The reason for this seems to boil down to scheduling: due to Legendary Pictures being sold to Chinese company The Wanda Group, production needed to be delayed by nearly a year. It was then that Daredevil’s Steven DeKnight took over directorial duties. Since then, the film has undergone a massive makeover, which is clearly evident in the first trailer.

So, what would have Guillermo’s film have looked like? Speaking to Collider. Paul Austerberry — who served as production designer for the original Pacific Rim — revealed how Pacific Rim 2 was originally going to end:

“And then of course I think we finished in the west coast, I think it was San Francisco that we were gonna end up in.
