Pacific Rim Uprising a “launching pad” for a shared universe

15 October 2017 3:00 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Following the release of the first trailer for Pacific Rim Uprising, Nerdist caught up with director Steven S. DeKnight to discuss the film, with DeKnight revealing that the plan is for the sequel to serve as a “launching pad” for an entire transmedia franchise featuring movies, spinoff films, comics and even an animated series.

“I’m certainly hoping so,” said DeKnight. “I think you’ll definitely probably get more comics. The plan was always to use this movie as a launching pad. If enough people show up to this, we’ve already talked about the plot of the third movie, and how the end of the third movie would expand the universe to a Star Wars/Star Trek-style [franchise] where you can go in many, many different directions. You can go main canon, you can go spin-offs, you can go one-offs. Yeah, that’s the plan. And I would love »

What Scott Eastwood Looks Like as the New Wolverine

14 October 2017 11:06 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Digital artist BossLogic is back at it again, this time giving us an idea of what Scott Eastwood could look like as Wolverine. Hugh Jackman has recently retired from the role of Logan after portraying the character 9 times, leaving the door open for the next actor to step in and play one of the best-known Marvel characters in history. When the time does come to find a replacement for Jackman, you can guarantee that there will be a monster of a debate about who played Wolverine better that will last for decades.

Scott Eastwood was recently at New York Comic-Con for the Pacific Rim: Uprising panel and he was asked about playing a superhero during an interview with ComicBook. Without hesitation, the actor blurted out "Weapon X... I mean Logan!" Talks of Scott Eastwood taking over on the role of Wolverine have been rumbling ever since Hugh Jackman announced »

See John Boyega And Scott Eastwood In IMAX Trailer For Pacific Rim Uprising

10 October 2017 4:19 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

(L to R, foreground) John Boyega as Jake and Scott Eastwood as Lambert in the “Gipsy Avenger” conn pod in “Pacific Rim Uprising.”

Remember that awesome bit in 2013’s Pacific Rim where Idris Elba rallies the troops with his rousing call to arms “We Are Canceling the Apocalypse!” It’s all the more cool with Ramin Djawadi’s score.

You know the scene…

The globe-spanning conflict between otherworldly monsters of mass destruction and the human-piloted super-machines built to vanquish them was only a prelude to the all-out assault on humanity in Pacific Rim Uprising.

Set to be released in cinemas on March 23, 2018, check out the stunning and newly released IMAX trailer.

John Boyega (Star Wars: The Force Awakens) stars as the rebellious Jake Pentecost, a once-promising Jaeger pilot whose legendary father gave his life to secure humanity’s victory against the monstrous “Kaiju.”

Pacific Rim: Uprising May Spawn The Next Cinematic Universe

9 October 2017 2:59 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

If there’s one 2018 blockbuster that enjoyed a huge showcase at New York Comic Con, it’s Pacific Rim: Uprising.

Steven S. DeKnight’s super-sized sequel brought the big, big guns thanks to that show-stopping first trailer, one designed to usher in a new generation of Jaeger pilots. Front and center is John Boyega (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) as Jake Pentecost, son of the apocalypse-canceling Stacker, who suits up alongside Scott Eastwood to fend off a whole new wave of Kaiju nasties. And if Friday’s footage is any indication, that resurgence will include a towering monstrosity that’ll surely register as a category six on the Ppdc’s (Pan Pacific Defense Corps) official spectrum.

But what of Pacific Rim‘s future beyond 2018? We know that a spinoff cartoon series was once considered under Guillermo del Toro’s supervision, but those plans were quietly shelved when the Mexican »

Scott Eastwood Wants to Be the New Wolverine

7 October 2017 4:41 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Fans haven't really had much time to process Hugh Jackman leaving the role of Wolverine behind. The release of Logan earlier this year marked the end of Jackman's tenure as the fan-favorite mutant and he unquestionably went out on the top of his game. Still, despite the fact that it's barely been six months since his retirement, people can't stop looking ahead to the future and wonder who might play the character next on the big screen. Turns out, given the chance, Scott Eastwood would like a crack at re-casting Wolverine.

The 31-year-old actor recently appeared at New York Comic-Con to promote his new movie Pacific Rim: Uprising. Shortly after the panel, Scott Eastwood spoke with Comicbook.com and was asked what superhero he'd like to play. He enthusiastically expressed that he'd like to play Wolverine. Here's what he had to say about it.

Well, that didn’t take long. Then again, it usually doesn’t when it comes to Boss Logic. Yes, the renowned fan artist has struck again, this time imagining what Suicide Squad‘s Scott Eastwood might look like should he one day nab the role of Wolverine. But let’s rewind for a second before we get any further.

In case you haven’t been keeping up, ComicBook.com sat down with the actor yesterday at Nycc while he was there promoting Pacific Rim: Uprising. When the outlet asked him which superhero he’d love to play if given the chance, he replied with the following: “Weapon X. I mean, Logan! You gotta give it to Wolverine! Wolverine, all day.” Given that many fans have put Eastwood on their wish list for who could bring the character to life next, it was nice to hear that the actor’s into the idea, »

Scott Eastwood keen on Wolverine role

7 October 2017 11:51 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Having enjoyed a supporting turn in the DC Extended Universe last year, portraying Lt. GQ Edwards in Suicide Squad, Scott Eastwood has now thrown his hat in the ring for another comic book movie role, and this time he’s gunning for the lead.

During an interview with Comic Book at the New York Comic Con, where he was promoting his new film Pacific Rim Uprising [watch the trailer here], Eastwood responded to a question about which superhero role he’d like to play by stating: “Weapon X. I mean, Logan! You gotta give it to Wolverine! Wolverine, all day.”

Assuming 20th Century Fox decides to continue using the fan favourite mutant, there is of course an opening for the role of Wolverine following Hugh Jackman’s final outing earlier this year in Logan. Would Scott Eastwood be a good fit in your opinion? Let us know in the comments below… »
