Chicago – Why do they keep making these awful movies? I’m a horror fan. I think Tobe Hooper’s original “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” is a truly effective (if a bit overrated) movie that has to be included on a list of the most influential of its era. But nearly everything that it has literally spawned has been awful. Sure, “TCM 2” has some wackadoo charm but the modern remakes — the two Platinum Dunes flicks and now this 3D stinker, reecently released on Blu-ray and DVD, are just a waste of time. To be fair, this reboot/sequel isn’t nearly as annoying as the last two but it’s still awful.
Rating: 1.0/5.0
The best idea the makers of “Texas Chainsaw” had was to pick up more directly from the Hooper original instead of just going the traditional remake route. In fact, the credits consist of scenes from the original with the »

Chicago Fire has only been blazing across NBC’s airwaves for a single season, but already the show created by Michael Brandt and Derek Haas is talking spin-off. Legendary Law & Order executive producer Dick Wolf is interested in leading the new series and two actors are revolving around the spin-off, too. They are Clint Eastwood’s son, Scott, and former Lost actress, Tania Raymonde.
Is it wrong of me to be more interested in the proposed spin-off than in the flagship show? I guess part of the reason I haven’t been paying enough attention to Chicago Fire is because I’m still licking my wounds after The Chicago Code was cancelled. I really loved that show. Mix a very strong, sometimes hated woman in a leadership position, a young undercover detective in over his head, and star Jason Clarke, who has since taken off on the big screen in thrillers like Zero Dark Thirty, »

Film: "Texas Chainsaw 3D"; Cast: Alexandra Daddario, Dan Yeager, Trey Songz, Scott Eastwood, Tania Raymonde, Shaun Sipos, Keram Malicki-Sanchez, James MacDonald, Thom Barry, Paul Rae, and Marilyn Burns; Director: John Luessenhop; Rating: **
The two stars that "Texas Chainsaw 3D" gets is because everything is relative. Given the genre, the look and feel of the film, it deserves this and nothing less.
The prologue establishes that the current saga is directly linked to the 1974 released Tobe Hooper's original "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre". The latest one in the franchise, picks up right where the "...Massacre" left off, with a fair-minded sheriff (Thom Barry) arriving at a farmhouse to arrest a member of the cannibalistic. »

Lionsgate has announced the 3D/2D Blu-Ray release of Texas Chainsaw 3D for April. The sequel to the Tobe Hooper original stars Alexandra Daddario, Scott Eastwood and Dan Yeager.
I’ve never been a huge fan of Tobe Hooper’s original Texas Chain Saw Massacre. I appreciate everything that it has done for the horror genre at large, but I think I’ve only viewed it twice. I actually enjoyed the remake to an extent and the prequel even more, while not really caring for any of the original sequels.
I went into this sequel to the original with no real expectations. Like I said before, I didn’t love the original film or the sequels, but I dug the remake and its prequel enough to warrant revisiting them from time to time. The trailers and marketing for Lionsgate’s new entry looked pretty bad, with so many images getting lifted directly from previous material, »

Love it or hate it, Texas Chainsaw 3D made an impact on genre fans. That being said, the one thing nearly everyone can agree upon is the fact that for a majority of the movie Leatherface's mask is easily the worst of the franchise. Get ready for a peek at what could have been.

Yesterday, we reported that Millennium Films was already planning a sequel to Texas Chainsaw 3D. Today it seems that the company's Chairman Avi Lerner spoke to soon.
Rights holders Carl Mazzocone and Mark Burg made it clear that there is no forward movement, as of yet, for a sequel with the following statement.
"The rights are controlled by Carl and Main Line Pictures, no matter what Millennium says. Millennium simply sold the foreign rights and they will not tell us when a sequel is ready to be made. The script was developed by Carl, myself and writer/director John Luessenhop. Millennium and about ten producers came aboard only when we needed their check. Maybe they're looking for something to sell at Berlin, but they have no right to announce this sequel and if we make another it has to be as good or better than this one and that takes time. »

Texas Chainsaw 3D is a strange animal. Everything about the flick is wonky and weird, and we guess in some way that's kind of appropriate. In any event don't get too revved up about a sequel yet, kids, as there's more to the saw. No idea what that "more to the saw" means, but it sounded cool.
Yesterday Deadline announced that Texas Chainsaw 4 was on the way, which is befuddling in and of itself as there are several sequels, one remake, and one prequel already; however Texas Chainsaw 3D was said to be a direct sequel to the original, really making it Texas Chainsaw 2 so a sequel to that would have been Texas Chainsaw 3 and not Texas Chainsaw 4, but we must remember that this new series is also home to a 40-year-old character portrayed by a 26-year-old hottie. Where was I? Oh yeah...

In an announcement that surprised no one given Texas Chainsaw 3D's number one spot at the box office last weekend, Millennium Films is moving ahead with Texas Chainsaw 4, and production will begin later this year in Louisiana.
Per Deadline, the next installment will be spearheaded by producer Carl Mazzocone, executive producers Mark Burg, Avi Lerner, Tobe Hooper, Trevor Short, John Thompson, Danny Dimbort, Lati Grobman, and Christa Campbell. Considering TC3D took in a surprisingly high $21.7 million gross and a per screen average of $8,193 on 2,654 screens, Millennium is smart to strike while the iron is hot.
“Lati and Christa brought the idea of this franchise to us. They were certain of the audience appeal so we signed on,” Millennium Films Chairman Avi Lerner said, “and it turns out they were right. It was a bloody good decision. Lionsgate agreed to distribute the film in the Us and did a fantastic job. »
