You'd have thought that historical documentaries on the royal family would be a cul-de-sac, given the forensic scrutiny their lives have been subject to (heaven forbid producers ever take this much interest in the present-day House of Windsor). But here's another "revelation": it's Edward VIII (again) and what he got up to with a courtesan, his first lover, who went on to murder her husband. There's scandal, sex (of course) and some blackmail but, despite the cries of establishment cover-up, it feels like century-old gossip. Martin Skegg
