Maya Entertainment has picked up kidnap thriller Saluda al Diablo Mi Parte aka Greetings to the Devil for a future theatrical and video-on-demand (Variety). This is a Spanish language film from the Orozco brothers, who were both born in Medellin, Columbia. These filmmakers are surely no stranger to the criminal underworld based on their birthplace and Greetings to the Devil follows an ex-rebel soldier, who attempts to lead a more peaceful life. His former comrades in arms will not allow him his tranquility and instead, they kidnap his daughter in retribution. With no choice but to turn to violence, Angel must use his former training to track down these kidnappers and rescue his daughter. Expect a 2011 release for this title (prediction), with Saluda al Diablo Mi Parte to show in Columbia August 12th. The film's thrilling, but violent trailer is below.

A few weeks back this writer had the opportunity to chat with up-and-coming composer Jermaine Stegall while he was at the La Screamfest Horror Film Festival supporting the two features he had scored that were selected entries: Rogue River and The Psycho Legacy.
After quickly realizing that a few moments on the red carpet wasn’t enough time to learn about this new rising genre talent, Dread Central recently caught up with Stegall again to talk about his work on scoring both The Psycho Legacy and Rogue River, what inspired him to become a composer, and how it felt to be working on a documentary about a film series that featured one of the most memorable scores not in only the horror genre but in the entire history of cinema as well.
Dread Central: Can you talk about how you got interested in scoring movies and how you started off in the industry?...

With this being my last shot at writing a Twitch-o-Meter in 2009 I've decided that rather than looking back - as I normally do with these things - I'm going to look forward. This column is dedicated to five young, up and coming film makers who I believe will make a big impact in 2010. Three of them will be rolling out with their first features, two with their second, none have been widely seen by audiences yet. Where possible I'll be including videos and links to official websites. And so, in alphabetical order, here they are:
Jalmari Helander - Rare Exports
We get things rolling in Finland, where first time feature director Jalmari Helander has just wrapped principal photography on his Rare Exports. An expansion on a pair of earlier, hugely successful short films, Rare Exports posits a devious, underhanded, far-northern plot to conceal the truth about Santa Clause. Yes, the...

It is the second film from the lead team behind the horror hit Al final Del espectro currently being remade with Nicole Kidman in the lead and the same writer director team of Carlos Esteban and Juan Felipe Orozco. The two of them are becoming a big force in the international scene. The first teaser of the film looks absolutely stunning. There were also some beautiful shots from the movie which surely creating some good buzz. The cast of the also play their roles with élan in this genre bending movie.

[Bumping this up to the top of the page because a) it’s awesome, and b) after trying something like six different encodes I finally got one that will work in the Twitch Video Player loaded up below the break.]
We have been following the development of Colombian action-noir Saluda Al Diablo De Mi Partir - or Greetings to the Devil for some time now. It is the sophomore film from the team behind festival horror hit Al Final Del Espectro - currently being remade with Nicole Kidman in the lead - and that team of writer Carlos Esteban and director Juan Felipe Orozco are proving to be two of the hottest young players on the international genre film scene. The first teaser for this looked absolutely stellar, then they passed on some similarly impressive stills, and Esteban has just alerted us to the brand new second teaser which is absolutely magnificent. Beautifully shot and constructed with a cast that looks perfectly suited to the material, this looks to be truly exceptional stuff.
You’ll find both teasers in the Twitch Video Player below the break. Go. Look. Marvel..

We first wrote about upcoming Colombian crime-noir Saluda Al Diablo De Mi Parte all the way back in April when the film makers shot a test teaser for their film. That teaser was a stellar bit of work and the more we dug into the project the more interesting it began to look. Colombia doesn’t have that much of a film industry and even less of a genre film industry but this film is the second effort from writer Carlos Esteban and director Juan Felipe Orozco, the same pair that were behind the festival hit Al Final Del Espectro - currently being remade with Nicole Kidman in the lead - and they obviously know what they’re up to.
This latest effort is deep into production and Esteban has just passed along five behind the scenes stills from the film, each of which looks every bit as noir as...
