Revolution season 2 episode 8 review: Come Blow Your Horn

Review Billy Grifter 16 Nov 2013 - 10:26

After a couple of ropey episodes, Revolution returns to some form. Here's Billy's review...

This review contains spoilers.

2.8 Come Blow Your Horn

I’m hoping that the whole faking Bass’s death represented a low point that Revolution can now climb away from, and in many respects, Come Blow Your Horn did seem much less of a mess than the previous two stories.

Okay, in terms of a overall narrative it wasn’t brilliant, but it demonstrated some intention at progression for some very obvious flaws. Aaron is captured by the single minded Dr. Horn who seems determined to extract the most from the crossing of their paths. In this we got the strongest indication yet that Horn is destined to be around for the rest of the season, as they took the time to provide him with a back story. It was a simple enough one,

Revolution Boss Previews 'Grimier' Season 2, Charlie's New 'Tude and 'Shattered' Mathesons
Revolution is getting a makeover, but things are only getting dirtier — in every sense of the word.

When the NBC drama returns for Season 2 on Wednesday at 8/7c, the characters will find themselves in dark (power’s out again, sorry), desperate (Rachel’s lost it, yikes) and grimy (hello, underworld) situations. But instead of trying to turn the lights back on, their mission shifts to battling a new, so-called patriotic enemy, executive producer Eric Kripke tells TVLine.

And there’s even more change ahead: With the Matheson clan splintered, Charlie takes off on her own — and gets a bit of a personality makeover!

Revolution Possibly Setting Miles Up with Jessica Collins

With Revolution’s first season finale now behind us, we can begin looking to the future; a future bright with the promise that we’ll never have to go through Season 1 ever again. That’s not a guarantee Season 2 will be a vast improvement, but it is the hope the writers at least figured out what they did wrong the first time around. Revolution had a lot of problems throughout its freshman season, but it always got one thing right from the very beginning; it knew how to kill characters off. If a character’s purpose was served or they just weren’t well liked, they got the axe. And because of those decisions, Revolution will need a new romantic interest for Miles.

According to Deadline, Zero Dark Thirty actress Jessica Collins will be joining Season 2 in a major recurring role. In fact, she’s already been confirmed to be

Rubicon’s Jessica Collins Joins Revolution Season 2

Let’s solve some puzzles! Former “Rubicon” castmember Jessica Collins has joined the cast of NBC’s “Revolution’s” upcoming Season 2. She’s already nabbed an early 4-episode arc on the show, and will play Cynthia, described as “a beautiful young woman of deep faith, whose winning humor and blazing intelligence capture the heart of one of Revolution’s leading characters.” Hmm, one of the “leading characters”? It doesn’t say The leading character, so I’m guessing not Miles, even though our battling hero could certainly use a new love interest now that Nora went and bit the dust at the end of Season 1. Then again, there’s that thing between him and Elizabeth Mitchell’s Rachel, so… Who is left? Well, there’s Aaron. He’s single and ready to mingle. Collins was recently in the aforementioned “Rubicon”, along with “Person of Interest” and the movie “Zero Dark Thirty

'Revolution' Season 2: Jessica Collins to recur as mystery love interest

"Revolution" is bringing the romance in Season 2, signing Jessica Collins for a four-episode arc as mysterious new addition Cynthia.

"Revolution" showrunner Eric Kripke has this to say about the character: "Cynthia is a beautiful young woman of deep faith, whose winning humor and blazing intelligence capture the heart of one of 'Revolution's' leading characters."

While that could mean anyone from Miles (presumably still grieving Nora and wrestling with his feelings for Rachel) to Neville (still married) to Monroe (single, but psycho), we're wondering if maybe it's Aaron's turn for a little romantic distraction? Unless he's destined to reunite with his wife?

Collins was a regular on AMC's "Rubicon" and ABC's "The Nine," which both lasted just a single season. She also had a supporting role in the Oscar nominated hit drama "Zero Dark Thirty."

"Revolution" Season 2 premieres Sept. 25 in its new timeslot, Wednesday nights at 8 p.m. Et.
