Powerful first trailer for Glenn Close's 'Albert Nobbs'

13 October 2011 2:28 AM, PDT | Monsters and Critics | See recent Monsters and Critics news »

The new trailer for Roadside Attractions and director Rodrigo Garcia's drama "Albert Nobbs" is now online. Glenn Close is Albert Nobbs, a woman dressed as a man, trying to fit in unrecognised, in a male dominated 19th Century Irish business. Judging from the trailer and early reaction to the film, I would hardly be surprised to see Glenn Close up for acting gongs over the upcoming awards season. The January release also stars Mia Wasikowska, Aaron Johnson, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, Brendan Gleeson, Maria Doyle Kennedy, John Light, Janet McTeer, Pauline Collins, Mark Williams, Brenda Fricker, Bronagh Gallagher, Antonia Campbell-Hughes, Emerald Fennell, Annie Starke and Serena Brabazon.Watch the powerful debut trailer for "Albert Nobbs" below;"Albert Nobbs" is on limited release across »

The Inbetweeners' Joe Thomas and Simon Bird go back in time for a new comedy - where they chicken out of World War One.

They have teamed up with Thomas's long-term writing partner Jonny Sweet for a new show, Chickens, about three young men who avoid joining the army during the First World War.

Chickens is a Channel 4 comedy, made by Big Talk Productions, which is about three youngsters who avoid combat in the First World War: George (played by Thomas) is a conscientious objector, Cecil (Bird) would love to be fighting for queen and country but his flat feet mean the army won't have him - and then there's Bert (Sweet), a "philandering scaredy-cat" on the run.

The comedy is based around how the three can win over the women of the village.

The young ladies of Rittle-On-Sea are played by a talented roster of actresses: comedienne Sarah Daykin, »
