The Brotherhood V: Alumni Dropping onto DVD in February

E1 Entertainment just sent out a list of its upcoming DVD releases for early February, 2010, and front and center on it is cult director David DeCoteau's The Brotherhood V: Alumni. As the tagline says, "The Brotherhood returns, and this time revenge will be sweet!"

Here's the synopsis provided by E1 for this latest release in DeCoteau's horror franchise:

A year after a mean-spirited prom prank turned deadly, the most popular students of Sunnydale High are summoned back for a surprise reunion only to find themselves at the mercy of a relentless killer. Maria Aceves (Lily and the Syphon), Preston Davis (The Prankster), Lindsay Landers (Touched) and Nathan Parsons (“General Hospital”, Teeth) star in this direct-to-dvd release, which also includes a bonus behind-the-scenes featurette.

Bet's New Web Series "Buppies" Includes Gay Storyline

As any regular reader of AfterElton.com already knows, one of the biggest issues we have when it comes to gay visibility in popular culture is the lack of gay men of color in our popular culture. That makes me especially happy to report that Bet's new webseries Buppies includes a gay storyline — and one that the network is trying to get the word out about.

Buppies (a spin on the word "yuppie") follows five African-American friends trying to make their way in black Hollywood. One of those friends is Eliot, a sports agent and the "perfect boyfriend", who is dating Priscilla, a magazine editor.

Three of the webisodes have aired so far and in the third we meet NFL football star Truth who appears to have some unfinished business with Eliot as you can see here.

Tatyana Ali and Her ‘Buppies’ Score Bet.com, Covergirl

The web series world so far has been relatively devoid of scandals. So when TMZ reported on a lawsuit surrounding former Fresh Price of Bel Air star (and R&B singer) Tatyana Ali's upcoming web series Buppies, the story took a left turn. Now, after the lawsuit has been dropped in court and both sides are calling it a misunderstanding, the series is finally set for release after signing a deal with Bet.com for a November 3 launch. The series first popped up on our radar over a year ago when we talked to Ali and her sister Anastasia, who had just shot the project as the first original from their indie production co, HazraH Entertainment. The pair teamed up with writer-director Julian Breece, whom Tatyana had met while both were at Harvard, and crafted a series that feels like Sex and the City for a young black generation,
