Movie Review – The Funhouse Massacre (2015)

The Funhouse Massacre, 2015.

Directed by Andy Palmer.

Starring Robert Englund, Jere Burns, Scottie Thompson, Matt Angel, Chasty Ballesteros, Clint Howard, and Mars Crain.

Synopsis:

Six of the world’s scariest psychopaths escape from a local Asylum and proceed to unleash terror on the unsuspecting crowd of a Halloween Funhouse, whose themed mazes are inspired by their various reigns of terror.

In case the title or the synopsis didn’t make it clear, The Funhouse Massacre is not an Oscar-bait movie. There are no breath-taking performances, stunning visuals, or moments that touch your soul. There is, however, a metric shit-tonne of gore and violence, and even a cheeky bit of nudity. For this reason, I only want to spend a brief moment discussing the technical aspects of The Funhouse Massacre, because it is simply not the kind of film that warrants a technical review. Nevertheless, I feel the need to give

Frightfest Halloween 2017: ‘Beyond Skyline’ Review: Dir. Liam O’Donnell

Beyond Skyline review: The sequel to the marmite film, Skyline, has arrived, but after seven years, was it worth the wait?

Beyond Skyline review by Kat Hughes.

Beyond Skyline Review

2010 gave us a small low budget science-fiction thriller known as Skyline. It was a film subject to the marmite phenomena; you either loved it, or hated it. Grossing $78 million from a budget of $10-20 million meant that the prospect of a sequel seemed like a good idea. Sadly, the filmmaker seemed to be so consumed with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should.

Outside of the practical effects – which were stunning when you consider the modest scale of production – what made Skyline great was how unique it felt. Starring Eric Balfour and Scottie Thompson as Jarrod and Elaine respectively, the movie saw a group of friends try and survive a strange alien invasion.

Film News Roundup: Annette Bening to Star in Christoph Waltz’s Directorial Debut ‘Georgetown’
In today’s film news roundup, Annette Bening has joined Christoph Waltz and Vanessa Redgrave in “Georgetown,” Lionsgate has acquired U.S. rights to Roland Emmerich’s World War II movie “Midway,” and Film Movement has bought three documentaries.

Casting

Annette Bening has joined Christoph Waltz and Vanessa Redgrave in the crime drama “Georgetown.” The film, which is shooting in Canada, marks Waltz’s directorial debut.

The project, based on the New York Times Magazine article by Franklin Foer, centers on Albrecht Muth (played by Waltz), an eccentric social climber who seduced and married a wealthy older widow, Viola Drath, portrayed by Redgrave. Muth and Drath entered the top political circles as they threw lavish events, with Muth lying extensively about his background — which came to light after Drath was found murdered in 2011 at their home in Georgetown.

Muth was 26 when he married the 71-year-old Drath in 1990. He was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to 50 years

The Funhouse Massacre Slices and Dices Your Funny Bone: A Film Review

Director: Andy Palmer. Writers: Ben Begley and Renee Dorian. Cast: Robert Englund, Jere Burns, Scottie Thompson, Matt Angel and Chasty Ballesteros. The Funhouse Massacre is an indie horror feature from director Andy Palmer (Badlands of Kain). Written by Ben Begley and Renee Dorian, this title blends a lot of blood with some comedy, on Halloween night. Serial killers haunt an amusement park. And, a family reunion, created in Hell, offers a decent climax. Meanwhile, a theme involving impersonation is appropriate for the film's Halloween setting, while The Funhouse Massacre manages to create an entertaining horror world. In the story, actor Robert Englund appears as a blood-thirsty warden. He allows a journalist to tour his psychiatric hospital. The hospital pens several serial killers in its walls. While the journalist and warden become better acquainted, six murderers escape their confines. The taxidermist (Clint Howard), the cannibal (E. E. Bell), the dentist charmer, a killing...

With cameos and supporting roles by Clint Howard (Evilspeak, The Lords of Salem), Courtney Gains (Children of the Corn, The ’Burbs) and Freddy Krueger himself, Robert Englund, I’m more than willing to give this one a shot. 'NCIS' Recap: Why Does Tony Meet with Dr. Jeanne Benoit?
Last time on NCIS, the team rescued Secretary of the Navy Sarah Porter's daughter from a kidnapper bent on revenge. Of course, Gibbs was one step ahead of the kidnappers the whole time. That's part of the reason why we love him.

This episode of NCIS, "Loose Cannons," finds the team investigating a murder that takes place when some crates of weapons are stolen. Dr. Cyril Taft (Jon Cryer) lends the team a hand, and an uncomfortable Tony runs into his ex-love, Dr. Jeanne Benoit (Scottie Thompson). I love it when Dr. Taft makes an appearance.
