New Song: Bappa from Banjo

18 August 2016 8:00 PM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Riteish Deshmukh, who plays a street musician in Ravi Jadhav’s ‘Banjo’, recently had to play the Banjo atop of a 40 ft cluster of dhols for the recently launched Bappa song.

Says Riteish, “It’s one of my favourite songs from the film. Shooting for it remains one of my most cherished experiences. I remember standing 40 feet above the ground, which is equal to the height of a four-storey building. Though all the safety measures were taken, standing on a pyramid of Dhols was challenging. On top of that, I had to play the banjo.”

Bappa is here! Presenting the Bappa Song from Eros International’s musical drama, Banjo sung by Vishal Dadlani, music by Vishal and Shekhar. Banjo, produced by Eros International, directed by Ravi Jadhav, starring Riteish Deshmukh and Nargis Fakhri releases on 23rd September.

Nargis Fakhri, who will be seen playing a New-York based DJ in Eros International’s upcoming musical drama, Banjo, starring Riteish Deshmukh in the lead role, had a bit of a language on the sets of the movie. The cast and crew including her co-star Riteish, director Ravi Jadhav, used to converse in Marathi (which is their mother-tongue), and it became a problem for Nargis who was unable to understand what the conversation was all about. For that matter, the producer Krishika Lulla, faced the same issue.

Interestingly, both Nargis and Krishika used to overhear people talking in Marathi, which helped them understand and learn the language. Nargis says, “Most of the people on the set including Ravi sir, Riteish and the crew members used to converse in Marathi and it raised my curiosity to know what the conversation was all about. Riteish gets mucky for Banjo!

31 May 2016 12:00 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Riteish Deshmukh is not letting anything come in the way of his performance in Banjo, National award-winning film maker Ravi Jadhav’s Bollywood debut. The actor who is ready to give it his best for the film recently shot in a sewer for the introductory sequence.

Banjo artists have been a part of Mumbai’s landscape for the last 100 years but they have never gained respect for their art. It’s a tough job as they usually start playing from morning and go on till midnight without much rest. We wanted to portray how our hero, a Banjo player from the slums, rises with his art. Most heroes arrive on the screen on bikes, cars or horses, mine will emerge from a gutter, “says Ravi. Riteish who is currently busy promoting Houseful 3 with co-stars Akshay Kumar, Jacqueline Fernandez, Abhishek Bachchan and Lisa Haydon spent days learning the instrument before hitting the sets. »
