‘Joshy’ Trailer: Thomas Middleditch & Jenny Slate Get Weird In Sundance Comedy

27 June 2016 9:14 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

If there were an award for most independent film acting and directing talent to appear in the same trailer, it would likely go to “Joshy,” the 2016 Sundance comedy starring Thomas Middleditch and Jenny Slate.

Directed by Jeff Baena (“Life After Beth”), the film also stars indie directing darlings Joe Swanberg and Alex Ross Perry alongside Aubrey Plaza, Nick Kroll, Jake Johnson, Alison Brie, and Adam Pally. The movie made news in March when Lionsgate and Hulu teamed up on a theatrical and streaming rights acquisition deal. Here’s the film’s synopsis:

After his fiancée breaks off their engagement, a man takes a trip with friends on what should have been his bachelor party weekend, and his self-absorbed friends are so focused on their own issues that they fail to ask him how he’s doing.

He leads Joshy, which finds him recovering after his fiancée (Alison Brie) commits suicide on his birthday. Four months later, he can’t get the deposit back on the house in Ojai, California he rented for his bachelor party, so he decides to make the best of it and invite his closest friends to spend a weekend together.

Featuring the stacked ensemble of Adam Pally, Nick Kroll, Jenny Slate, Brett Gelman, Alex Ross Perry, Joe Swanberg, Aubrey Plaza, Alison BrieLauren Graham, and Jake Johnson, the first trailer has landed today. Coming from Jeff Baena, it does a strong job of selling the mix of comedy and drama.

Just a day after it was revealed Megan Fox was pregnant with her third child, she posted an epic Instagram confirming who wasn't the father. "It was pretty humorous," Arnett told me yesterday while promoting his and Fox's new movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Darkness. "I got asked about it about a million times and I had so many great answers that I'm not allowed to say." He whispered one Nsfw joke he wanted to so badly crack. "There's no way because it would instantly be retweeted a hundred million times," Arnett »

Official Synopsis For The Mummy Reboot Teases An Ancient Threat

6 May 2016 7:58 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Production continues today on the London set of Universal’s The Mummy, as the Tom Cruise-fronted reboot gears up to unleash a prophesy long foretold – the studio’s shared Monsters Universe.

Pegged to arrive in the summer of 2017, Alex Kurtzman’s long-gestating franchise overhaul will herald the beginning of a yearly cycle of creature features form the studio, with April 13, 2018 and February 15, 2019 currently occupied by untitled horror movies.

That leaves a hefty weight of expectation resting on the reanimated shoulders of Kurtzman’s reworked version of The Mummy; perhaps not on the level of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, but it is launching a interconnected universe nonetheless.

In a bid to stoke excitement ahead of release, Universal has today unveiled the film’s official synopsis, placing Sofia Boutella in the role of an “ancient queen” who is given a crude awakening.

Russell Crowe In Talks To Join "The Mummy"

Russell Crowe is in early talks to join Universal Pictures' "The Mummy" reboot, the first film in a burgeoning cinematic universe featuring the studio's classic monsters like Dracula, Frankenstein and The Wolf Man.

If a deal happens, Crowe would appear as the tormented Dr. Henry Jekyll who changes into a murderous madman named Mr. Hyde in "The Mummy" before potentially starring in his own film.

Crowe is not a lock for this screen incarnation of the classic Robert Louis Stevenson character, in fact he's the third actor who has been in talks for the role with both Tom Hardy and Javier Bardem also in talks before those fell apart.

The Alex Kurtzman-directed film has already been shooting in London for weeks with Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella, Annabelle Wallis and Jake Johnson already onboard.
