Born and raised in New York, Robert Burger is a Portland based multi-instrumentalist, film composer, arranger and music director. Burger began playing piano at age 4 and studied with concert pianist Jeffery Marcus. He received his formal education in classical performance as well as improvisation at the University of Massachusetts, under the direction of Yusef Lateef. He has recorded and performed worldwide with artists such as Elvis Costello, Laurie Anderson, Marianne Faithfull, Lucinda Williams, and Iron & Wine. He was a founding member of the chamber ensemble Tin Hat Trio, and has composed and contributed to many acclaimed films including Nebraska, Everything Is Illuminated, Bully, 360 and Trouble.
