Paul W.S. Anderson is bringing his Resident Evil saga to an end after six movies with Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, set for release in January 2017. Yesterday we were treated to the Japanese trailer, a new poster and the full domestic teaser trailer – but what did our writing staff make of it?

Anghus Houvouras: Has there ever been a franchise as consistently terrible as Resident Evil? Paranormal Activity? Paul Blart: Mall Cop? Underworld? Police Academy (after the first two)? No sir, for my money Resident Evil is the king of the garbage heap, and this one looks just as smelly as the rest. To be fair, I’ve had some amusing moments while watching these thinly plotted, »

Milla Jovovich in First Full Teaser for 'Resident Evil: The Final Chapter'

9 August 2016 7:09 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"We've played a long game, you and I, but now it's over." Screen Gems has debuted the first teaser trailer for the sixth Resident Evil movie, and apparently the final one, as it's called Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Not only is writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson back to finish the series he started, so is actress Milla Jovovich as Alice, who must return to Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. The full cast includes Ruby Rose, Ali Larter, Iain Glen, Shawn Roberts, William Levy, Eoin Macken, Rola and Lee Joon-Gi. This definitely looks like one big all-out, epic grand finale but I've been tired of this series for a long time and it doesn't exactly make me interested again. Plus there's still way too much CGI. Worth a look anyway. Update! Here's the »

Resident Evil: The Final Chapter Trailer Closes The Book On Alice’s Journey

9 August 2016 6:52 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

In bringing the curtain down on its lucrative, long-running franchise, Screen Gems is ready to order Alice (Milla Jovovich) back to where it all began: Raccoon City.

For in Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, our gun-toting heroine will be fighting for a humanity on the absolute brink of extinction – a last-ditch scrap that leads Jovovich’s hardened lead back to ground zero. That may sound overly familiar to fans of this most resilient movie series, but in The Final Chapter, Alice will be aiming to dismantle the nefarious Umbrella Corporation (and that dastardly Red Queen) once and for all.

Pegged to arrive in January – not exactly a release window that inspires confidence, but nevertheless – Resident Evil: The Final Chapter welcomes the return of a familiar face in Ali Larter’s Claire Redfield, headlining a cast that also features Game of Thrones star Iain Glen, Shawn Roberts, Ruby Rose, Eoin Macken, »

Simon Brew Aug 10, 2016

We've now got the full-length trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, starring Milla Jovovich...

Update

Here's the longer trailer for the film...

As promised, here's the first trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. It's appeared in Japan first (it's 47 seconds this one, so more than a trailer for a trailer), and you can see it here. Note that a longer trailer is arriving later too.

From earlier today...

In the next 24 hours, we’re getting the first trailer for Resident Evil: The Final Chapter. Ostensibly, this is going to be the sixth and last film in the Resident Evil movie saga, although we’d put precisely no cash at all on it being the last Resident Evil film ever. One flick of the reboot/remake switch, and the whole thing will start all over again.

There’s a strong chance, however, that Resident Evil: The Final Chapter »
