1.This week on Roh Television, the main event for their Pay Per View event Death Before Dishonor was announced. Nigel McGuinness stated Adam Cole would face long time champion Jay Lethal for the Roh World Heavyweight Championship. The lead up to this match has been spotty at best which is really disappointing. Adam Cole joined with the Bullet Club faction at the Roh event Global Wars, finally giving a showcase to a performer who is on his way to becoming a big deal in the business. Over the past three weeks, he and the Young Bucks tag team, Matt and Nick Jackson, have been wrecking havoc on Ring of Honor television, including viciously taking out Kyle O’Reilly a couple weeks back after a match with Jay Lethal and last week shaving Jay Lethal bald. For too long, the Bullet Club in Ring of Honor has been treated like cool heroes,...

Daniel Bryan’s announcement that his head injuries have finally overcome his determination to wrestle and forced his retirement has shocked the wrestling world. While he has been out of action for what feels like forever, fans have always clung to his claims that he would come back.
That one day, one of the best in-ring workers to pull on a pair of boots would make his way back to that squared circle and entertain us all again.
However, Bryan doesn’t leave us with nothing. He has a body of work that can’t be argued with. Whether it was his feuds with Nigel McGuinness in Ring Of Honor or his final WrestleMania match for the Intercontinental Title, he never failed to deliver. It has not been an easy route, though.

Despite more than a month’s worth of speculation and the former Iwgp Heavyweight Champion’s arrival at WWE’s Orlando Performance Center, Shinsuke Nakamura has yet to finalize a deal with the company.
The reason for the wait is that it wasn’t until last week that Nakamura was able to fly to Pittsburgh to take the standard medical tests, and WWE makes sure all tests are in order prior to completing a signing. In the past, medical issues have delayed signings (Chris Hero’s 2011 hire was put on hold until doctors were able to determine that his elevated testosterone levels were natural) or even cancelled them (in 2009, an offer to Nigel McGuinness was rescinded after he refused to surgically fix a torn biceps muscle at his own expense).

In September 1999, an American television news broadcast featured a human interest story on Nigel McGuinness, one of many young athletes attempting to make a name for themselves on the burgeoning scene of independent pro wrestling. McGuinness had left his native England for the United States, spurred on by his childhood dream of becoming a pro wrestler. His final goal was the then-wwf — but the bingo halls he was wrestling in during his early days in the ring were a far cry from the pomp and ceremony of the big leagues.
Ten years later, much had changed for all the involved parties. McGuinness had gone on to be part of a talented generation of independent wrestlers who forged an industry of their own. Ring of Honor was the focal point of this movement, the jewel in the crown of independent wrestling in America. The Philadelphia-based promotion was a proving ground for future stars like Cm Punk,...

For decades, Britain has been known across the world for producing some truly great wrestlers. Although just a small island nation with a population of 60 million, the worldwide impact of British stars has been profound. I have previously stated, when appearing on the Bwc British Wrestling Roundup show on Challenge TV here in the UK, that I genuinely believe that British wrestlers are the best in the world. When you consider our nation’s small size and the number of Brits who have made a global impression on the wrestling world, compared to the size of other wrestling countries, it is an excellent rate ‘per capita’. The British style, technical and mat based, has become slightly diluted as the American influence has crossed the Atlantic over the past two decades, but it has enjoyed a renaissance to a degree through the popularity of some of the wrestlers listed in this article.

PWInsider reports that Kenta will make his last appearance for Japanese wrestling promotion Noah on May 17th as speculation is running rampant that he could be close to joining WWE.
Kenta (real name Kenta Kobayashi) spent a week in Orlando at WWE’s Performance Centre earlier this year where he underwent several tryouts. He has previously talked about how wrestling in WWE has been a dream of his since he was a child and the path now looks clear for him to join America’s top wrestling promotion.
At this point there hasn’t been any mention of Kenta on WWE’s side and there’s nothing official being reported anyway. If however his impending exit from Noah is a sign that he has signed with the McMahon family, then it’s expected that we will hear something from them soon.
Here’s what Kenta wrote about his WWE...

October 27th 2009 was a day that I imagine very few people saw coming. This was the day that Tna Wrestling, a company that has long been a very distant number two wrestling promotion who are very much in the background compared to the monolith that is WWE – announced they had signed The biggest professional wrestler in the business, Hulk Hogan.
Now of course Hogan was way beyond actually wrestling anything aside from maybe a very rare match with very few bumps taken, but his presence clearly would attract a whole new audience to the Tna product wouldn’t it? See Tna had been trying to raise awareness for their product for many years. Usually they seemed to try and accomplish this by trying to attract former WWE wrestlers and hoping they would help them get over the 1.0 ratings hump that they’d been stuck with seemingly forever. They tried with Christian,...

Why Watch? This entry from Chong Yuen Ping is direct but effective. A husband comes home to his wife already in the middle of having supper. Plaintive, he promises to her cold shoulder that he’ll change, but there’s something wrong that can’t be fixed. Acted with just the right notes of remorse and solitude, it’s a gut punch that aims slightly higher. We’re partnering again this year with Filminute, and we’ll be featuring a new short film every day this week (that you can go vote for) from the festival which highlights one-minute-long movies and runs through September 30th. What Will It Cost? One minute. Sometimes when you’re watching the world of professional wrestling, you wonder who is in charge here? Authority figures have been a staple of professional wrestling since its very inception with the Nwa Board of Directors. However, in 1997 the concept of the authority figure begin to change it to an on screen role. The boss became the onscreen focus and the catalysts that puts the product forward into the forefront of pop-culture. Epic battles between Vince McMahon and “Stone Cold” Steve Austin symbolized the struggle of the workingman against the corporate overlords. WCW tried the same thing with Eric Bischoff and the nWo to some modicum of success. After these feuds saw their climax each company would attempt many different permutations on the same formula with evil general managers and commissioners There were some good roles during that time but often they just look like background noise. As time drew...

We begin with a recap of last week’s main event and already the presentation has improved by leaps and bounds. The production is slick and polished, but the overly dramatic music is still pretty cheesy and takes the shine off a little.
Kevin Kelly and Nigel McGuinness are standing by the entrance ramp discussing last week’s main event, and announce tonight’s main event will be Davey Richards against his training partner Kyle O’Riley
And then we have a perfect example of everything that’s wrong with wrestling by cutting to a promo of Mike Mondo, aka Biff from Back To The Future. He tells people not to crowd him “’cause I take up a lot of space”. I actually rolled my eyes at that one. Basically the whole promo is about how strong he is and Mike thinks he’s the “biggest man in town”.
Again,...
