Kanye West is a man of many moods—and some of his mood swings give us whiplash. Especially the Kanye who rants on Twitter. But then there’s this whole other Kanye who we think is awesome. Oh to have been on that Delta flight. Then there’s totally rad Kanye who wraps presents for kids. Whuuuut? In a story that made us tear up just a little, Kanye randomly walked into the New Yorkers for Children’s 8th annual “Wrap to Rap” even though he wasn’t on their roster. He just wanted to help out a good cause. Fo’ reals. He reportedly sauntered in around 6pm and spent an apparent 90 minutes wrapping presents with Selita Ebanks (by the looks of this photo) and then quietly left. Awww. Maybe what he’s being saying on Twitter is actually True, you guys. Maybe he really is misunderstood. [Photo: Getty Images] »

The controversial star unexpectedly walked into the New Yorkers for Children's "Wrap to Rap" benefit at The Ainsworth in New York and asked to lend a hand. Selita Ebanks, West's "Runaway" co-star, also helped out with the gifts. The two were part of the charity organization's Fall Gala in September. »

Kanye West's new short film "Runaway" is pretty genius and the music is incredible, but let's be honest -- the standout is Victoria's Secret supermodel Selita Ebanks, who plays a supernaturally stunning phoenix who enchants 'Ye with her otherworldly, birdlike ways. Not only were we transfixed by her performance, we died for her makeup, hair and costuming. Here, the It-girl talks faux lashes, feathers, and the fierce Hollywood magic that went into the creation of her fantastical look »
Everybody's talking about Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks since her acting debut as an ill-fated -- but oh-so-glam -- phoenix in Kanye West's "Runaway" short film. While most of the world was pleasantly surprised she had it in her, the 27-year-old supermodel says she's been taking acting classes for 10 years. She chatted with Essence.com about getting "phoenix-ed out," working with Kanye West and who she's really dating: 'Ye or Maxwell? »

Here at MTV News, we like to cover the story from all angles, which is why, one day after publishing our high-culture cheat sheet for Kanye West's "Runaway" film, we're back with the lowbrow accompaniment. It's somewhat fitting, because while West's film is no doubt arty and abstract, it's also a big-budget, popcorn event too, the kind of thing that's littered with fast cars and explosions and lyrical nods to the Kings of Leon and Alec Baldwin.
So, really, we'd be doing a disservice — to West, his fans and Alec Baldwin — if we didn't do a pop-culture cheat sheet for the film. So here, alphabetized for your perusing pleasure, is our list of the films, fruits and, uh, fleshy »
I hope you weren't expecting a simple music video from Kanye West for his single "Runaway." Though it shares the same name, this video, directed by West, is really a short film, (the single doesn't come in until the 14-minute mark). Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks stars as a beautiful Phoenix who crashes into Kanye in a fantastical, dramatic scene. The nearly naked and feathered Ebanks becomes Kanye's girlfriend and project, as he teaches her a modern way of life despite the fact that she's, you know, a bird. Set to a soundtrack sampling tracks from his upcoming album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy, the film is a preview as well as a showcase of Kanye at his most outrageous. While it may feel like a commitment to watch the whole 34-minute movie, it's a sacrifice worth making for any Kanye fan. »

Kanye West has said that lately, he's inspired by colors. He's also made himself known as a man who loves decadence. There's plenty of both in the hip-hop superstar's "Runaway" film, a 35-minute clip he directed, written by Hype Williams. Shot in Prague, the film has made its way over to London, Paris, L.A., New York and then, on Saturday, to the whole world via Vevo. The basic plot features a beautiful Phoenix that looks like a Victoria's Secret model (played by actual Victoria's Secret model Selita Ebanks) that crashes to Earth in an unlikely explosion that likely should have killed »
Kanye West, in anticipation of his new album, released a 30-minute art film-cum-music video magnum opus simply titled Runaway. The short features nine songs from West’s upcoming album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. What story there is in the Hype Williams written/Kanye West directed project focuses on West’s discovery and attempted domestication of a phoenix (played by the fetching model Selita Ebanks). In his attempts to tame the creature, West takes the phoenix to a Michael Jackson marching band, to a high society dinner; lets her play with his dog, with his musical instruments, in his garden, etc… Meanwhile, all the Phoenix wants is, of course, to run away (or in the context of the film “to burn”). To check out Runaway and for my thoughts on the music video in question, hit the jump.
Please watch the 30-some-odd-minute video below. It is well worth your time. »

'It doesn't make any apologies ... about the unmaking the artist goes through in order to remake themselves,' Aliza Shvarts tells MTV News.

Kanye West's "Runaway" film offers an arresting brew of sound and imagery, punctuated by one dialogue-heavy scene: 'Ye sits with a winged creature called a phoenix (played by model Selita Ebanks) as she confesses that she must destroy herself in a quest to return to her fantastical world.
"All of the statues that we see, where do you think they came from?" she asks him.
"I think that artists carved them years and years ago," West replies.
"No, they are phoenix turned to stone," Ebanks responds. "Do you know what I hate most about your world? Anything that is different, you try to change. You try to tear it down. You »
Kanye West has gone where no artist has been before with a monumental 34-minute music video that some are hailing as a new art form, while others see it as just one more bit of self-indulgence from the ego-centric rap star. West is known to have a high opinion of himself but there’s no denying that his more than healthy ego is responsible for some pretty amazing music. West relies on a sultry underwear model Selita Ebanks to hold viewers’ attention and pays homage to Michael Jackson. »

'I feel like I'm looking outside of myself, like I'm looking at someone else,' Ebanks says.

"I was sick at home," Ebanks told MTV News on Monday (October 25). "I watched it when everybody else watched it. I was blowing my nose but guarantee I was dancing on my bed. I was by myself, but it was Ok. It was a good time to reflect and appreciate it without anybody around."
Ebanks starred in "Runaway" as the phoenix, the lead character in the film, who symbolically represents the rapper's fall and rise over the past 12 months or so. The role didn't require much dialogue, but Ebanks »
The much-awaited mini movie for Kanye West's "Runaway" has finally made its debut and shared a look at an ill-fated romance between a man and a phoenix who falls to the Earth. Though short on dialog, the 35-minute film directed by Hype Williams did feature a scene where the rapper warned the phoenix, portrayed by Selita Ebanks, not to trust what she sees in the news.
In an interview with MTV News following the film's premiere, Kanye explained the dialog was inspired by his own personal experience with the media. "I just thought that was so funny," he shared. "When me and Hype sat and wrote the entire script we had a lot more dialog and I just thought that was a poignant thing."
"I thought of it just on set ... for the first thing for you to hear me actually say on my first film," continued the "Power" rapper. »
