The first trailer for Chow Yun Fat's new period epic The Assassins has just landed, and frankly it looks pretty standard fare. Directed by first-timer Zhao Linshan and produced by the same team behind Zhang Yimou's The Flowers Of War, it tells the story of Han Dynasty Prime Minister Cao Cao (Chow), who in his twilight years only grew in power and threatened to take over the Han Empire. The story also deals with a pair of young lovers, played by Liu Yi Fei and Japanese actor Tamaki Hiroshi, who are snatched from a prison camp and trained to become deadly assassins. While the premise sounds intriguing enough this first trailer shows us precious little that we haven't seen in dozens of similar medieval war epics...

White Vengeance is a movie brought to us by director Daniel Lee, who brought us recent movies such as “14 Blades and Three Kingdoms”. He must love making historical movies because this is another one, but once again i have to say it looks like it could be another hit.

Daniel Lee has made quite the career for himself directing historical epics. His previous efforts, “14 Blades” and “Three Kingdoms”, are pretty good movies, though you must possess an appreciation for action-packed period pieces loaded with large-scale battles to truly enjoy them. Continuing in this tradition is Lee’s “White Vengeance”, which stars Leon Lai, Anthony Wong, Liu Yi-Fei, Jordan Chan, and Zhang Han-Yu. That’s a hell of a cast. I must say that the damned thing looks pretty good, and this is coming from someone who feels this sort of motion picture has been done to death. Leave it to Lee to make me eat my words. Here’s hoping this one tastes good. Here’s an epic synopsis for this epic actioner: In the late Qin Dynasty, rebels rose and the nation fell into chaos. Liu Bang (Leon Lai) and Xiang Yu (Shaofeng Feng), serving under King Huai,...

Someone who either has an eagle-eye or is the biggest fan of the movie Top Gun ever to live has spotted something very interesting.
CCTV, a broadcasting station in China, recently did a report on their country's air forces. The report includes various shots of their aircrafts and even a quick look at a training exercise in which a jet is destroyed by a missile.
Unfortunately for producers of the show, this eagle-eyed super fan (named Liu Yi) points out that the Chinese J-10 fires off its missile and it hits an American F-5 jet...the very same taken out by a one Mr. Tom Cruise in Top Gun, interestingly enough.
You can see a video of the original CCTV newscast below, as well as a second video from the Wall Street Journal that shows the footage side-by-side with Top Gun for everyone to make their own judgments. [...]...

The design is meant to aid those without use of their arms. That it doesn't yet exist tells you much about product development--and suggests a new solution to the bigger problem.
Like any good design idea, you can understand how the Toe Mouse works at a glance--and why it was designed.
Liu Yi created it for those without use of their arms, and the form is based on a blockbuster design we're all familiar with, the flip-flop. The ergonomic shape allows easy gripping between the big toe and the second toe; sensors underneath each would function as the left and right click.
The only usability quibble I have with the design is that your toes don't actually move independently--try to move your big toe without moving your second toe right now. But beyond that, this could be pretty great: Regular mice have their range of motion scaled to your computer...
