2018 PGA Awards: All the nominees in the 3 film and 9 TV categories for Producers Guild of America prizes

The Producers Guild of America hands out its awards on Saturday, Jan. 20, 2018. That is the night before the Screen Actors Guild does the same. Unlike, the latter, which will air on TNT and TBS, the PGA ceremony is not televised. However, it is an equally important stop on the road to the Oscars.

The PGA Awards has an enviable track record at presaging the eventual Best Picture winner at the Academy Awards. The guild and the academy have agreed on 19 of the most recent 28 Best Picture champs. Last year, all nine Oscar nominees for Best Picture numbered among the 10 PGA contenders; only “Deadpool” was snubbed by the academy. The PGA prize went to “La La Land” while the Oscar was (eventually) won by “Moonlight.”

2018 SAG Awards TV predictions: Complete racetrack odds in all 9 categories

The 24th Screen Actors Guild Awards will take place Sunday, January 21, in a live ceremony airing on TNT and TBS (8/7c) hosted by Kristen Bell — the show’s first host ever. While it’s just the latest stop on the long Oscar campaign for films, it’s the final major awards show of the season for TV folk until the Emmys in September.

SAG doesn’t have perfect correlation with the Emmys, partially due to the fact that the former doesn’t feature supporting TV categories and because SAG voters love repeat winners more than anyone. SAG’s top award, for ensemble, has also honored a handful of casts whose shows have not won a series award at the Emmys, including three-time champs “Orange Is the New Black” and Downton Abbey,” and two-time champ “Boardwalk Empire.”

Stranger Things” and “Glow” are the most nominated shows with four each in a field dominated by Netflix,

Ashleigh Banfield Doubles Down On Aziz Ansari Accusations: “Sloppy & Reckless”

Hln anchor Ashleigh Banfield hasn’t backed down from her criticism of the web article accusing actor Aziz Ansari of sexual misconduct – despite the petty personal insults tossed her way by one of the website’s editors. Banfield appeared this morning on NBC’s Megyn Kelly Today, concurring with host Kelly that Ansari’s behavior during a date with a 22-year-old woman, as written and reported by Babe website reporter Katie Way, is indeed worthy of “a conversation.” But…

Aziz Ansari Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations: "I Took Her Words to Heart"

Aziz Ansari Responds to Sexual Assault Allegations:
Update: On Sunday, Aziz Ansari released a statement via his rep in regard to the sexual assault allegation made against him: "In September of last year, I met a woman at a party. We exchanged numbers. We texted back and forth and eventually went on a date. We went out to dinner, and afterwards we ended up engaging in sexual activity, which by all indications was completely consensual. The next day, I got a text from her saying that although "it may have seemed okay," upon further reflection, she felt uncomfortable. It was true that everything did seem okay to me, so when I heard that it was not the case for her, I was surprised and concerned. I took her words to heart and responded privately after taking the time to process what she had said. I continue to support the movement that is happening in our culture. It is necessary and long overdue.

Samantha Bee's Perspective on How Aziz Ansari Fits Into the #MeToo Backlash
Samantha Bee is providing her point of view on the confusion surrounding Aziz Ansari and the #MeToo movement. In case you missed it, a Brooklyn-based photographer accused the Master of None star of sexual misconduct in an article published on Babe.net. Essentially, the anonymous writer—who went by the name of "Grace" for the piece—recalled a September 2017 date with Ansari during which she said he "ignored her non-verbal cues" and continued making sexual advances toward her. Samantha Bee Says What Everyone Should Be Saying About Aziz Ansari and the #MeToo Backlash — Watch
Samantha Bee is exactly the late night host we need right now. The “Full Frontal” host perfectly summarized the #MeToo backlash in an epic tirade that artfully and comically broke down why sexual harassment, in any form, is bad. (Boy, when you put it that way, it’s amazing she even had to say it). Bee connected three recent events to help make her point: The open letter warning of a “witch hunt” that was signed by Catherine Deneuve, a forthcoming Harper’s Magazine piece outing the author of the “Shitty Media Men” list, and the wave of women defending Aziz Ansari in the wake of a recent account of his sexually coercive behavior.

Samantha Bee Tackles #MeToo Backlash, Holding Men Like Aziz Ansari to a ‘Higher Standard’ (Video)
Samantha Bee has made it clear she doesn’t want #MeToo to be stalled by the fear that the movement is turning into a “witch hunt” following the negative responses to the Shitty Media Men list and accusations posed against actor Aziz Ansari. “So now that we’re finally listening to women,” Bee said on Wednesday’s edition of “Full Frontal.” “Some people are asking an important question: Should we stop listening to women?” Bee argued that “what many failed to understand that it doesn’t have to be rape to ruin your life, and it doesn’t have to ruin your life to be worth...

Csa Holds Open Call for Performers With Disabilities

When Csa says it’s committed to working toward increasing diversity and inclusivity in Hollywood, it puts actions behind its words. The organization hosted its second diversity open call Jan. 7 for performers with disabilities across the U.S. and Canada. The same day Sterling K. Brown, Aziz Ansari, and Oprah Winfrey became Golden Globes “firsts” when they took home trophies at the 75th annual ceremony, casting directors were spending their day educating themselves about another underrepresented community in the industry. They opened their audition rooms for union and nonunion talent to perform a two-page prepared scene of their choice. The call is part of a larger effort by Csa’s Inclusion and Diversity initiative, run by vice president Russell Boast, to familiarize CDs with undiscovered performers who might not have had an opportunity to audition for Csa members before. The call was held in New York City, Los Angeles, Chicago,
