European remakes for House Husbands

The Nine Network.s drama House Husbands is being remade in France and Italy.

The French version of the Playmaker Media series co-created by Ellie Beaumont and Drew Proffitt will be produced by Paris-based Made in Pm.

The Italian remake will be produced by Rome-based Publispei. Both companies will adapt the scripts of the first season.

Neither has yet been sold to a broadcaster, although Made in Pm produces drama for the channels TF1 and France2. The format deals were negotiated by Zdf Enterprises.

Cast unveiled for Nine's Gallipoli

Kodi Smit-McPhee, Harry Greenwood, Tom Budge, Lincoln Lewis, Matt Nable, Anthony Hayes, Lachy Hulme and Ashleigh Cummings are among the big ensemble cast announced today for the Endemol Australia/Nine Network miniseries Gallipoli.

A three-month shoot starts in and around Melbourne on March 17 with Glendyn Ivin (Beaconsfield, Puberty Blues) directing. The screenplay by Christopher Lee (Howzat! Kerry Packer.s War, Paper Giants, Rush, Police Rescue) is adapted from the best-selling book by Les Carlyon.

The producers are John Edwards (Howzat! Kerry Packer.s War, Beaconsfield, Paper Giants, and Offspring), Imogen Banks (Puberty Blues, Offspring) and Robert Connolly (producer of Balibo and The Boys, director of Underground: The Julian Assange Story, The Slap). Manifest introduce three at Efm

Top Dog directed by Martin Kemp [pictured], Reign of the General and Red Billabong join growing slate.

Manifest Film Sales, a division of Intandem Media Group, are introducing three new films to international buyers at the Efm.

First up is Martin Kemp’s Top Dog, starring Leo Gregory and Ricci Harnett, which is currently in post-production. Universal has UK rights and will release in June.

Top Dog star Harnett’s Reign of the General (which he also wrote and stars in) is currently in pre-production and will commence principal photography at the start of March. Universal also holds the UK rights to the film that tells the story of underworld boss Carlton Leach.

Scheduled for a five-week shoot from late March on Queensland’s Gold Coast, Luke Sparke’s thriller Red Billabong stars Josh Helman and Lincoln Lewis and will feature the ‘bunyip’, a creature of legend that is said to hunt the Australian outback.

Berlin: Manifest Film Adds Trio of Pics to Sales Slate

Manifest Film Sales, a division of Intandem Media Group, has added “Top Dog,” “Reign of the General” and “Red Billabong” to its slate.

Top Dog,” directed by British multi-hyphenate Martin Kemp (“The Krays”), starring Leo Gregory (“Green Street Hooligans”) and Ricci Harnett (“28 Days Later”), is in post. Universal Pictures has U.K. rights and will release in June.

“Reign of the General,” with filming to start at the beginning of March, is written and directed by Harnett, who also stars. It’s the story of underworld boss Carlton Leach.

“Red Billabong,” set in the Australian Outback, starring Josh Helman (“Animal Kingdom”) and Lincoln Lewis (“Tomorrow When the War Began”), is skedded for a five-week shoot on the Gold Coast, Queensland, in late March.

Pic will feature the Bunyip, a creature of legend that is said to hunt in the Australian Outback, created with vfx house Cutting Edge.
