16 September 2016 1:49 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

All I See Is You, 2016.

Directed by Marc Forster.

Starring Blake Lively, Jason Clarke, Ahna O’Reilly, Miguel Fernandez, Danny Huston and Yvonne Strahovski.

Synopsis:

A blind woman’s relationship with her husband changes when she regains her sight and discovers disturbing details about themselves.

Ever since last year’s Age of Adeline, Blake Lively has had a career resurgence with some dramatic performances in that film and last month’s survival flick The Shallows. Lively continues her trend in All I See Is You, showcasing some deep acting chops as Gina, a blind woman who regains her sight. This changes the dynamic with her husband (Jason Clarke) as she begins to literally see the details in their marriage that she was never able to notice before. Director Marc Forster tells a compelling tale that examines the subtle shifts in marriage for better and worse in a visually and auditory ambitious piece of film. »

Hulu’s Difficult People has emerged as some of #PeakTV’s harshest critics.

Although the series’ acid-tongued characters — a pair of struggling comedians played by Julie Klausner and Billy Eichner — would kill for some primetime exposure, they can frequently be heard condemning what many of the networks and streaming services have to offer.

Adrien Brody in Noir Crime Thriller 'Manhattan Night' Official Trailer

7 April 2016 7:14 PM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"Some secrets should never come to light." Or maybe everyone prefers that kind of creepy tagline better? "No reporter can resist a siren." Lionsgate has unveiled a trailer for a crime thriller called Manhattan Night, a sort of contemporary noir starring Adrien Brody as the pulp writer stuck in the middle of a crazy mysterious story of sex and lies and deceit. The cast includes Jennifer Beals and Yvonne Strahovski, plus Campbell Scott, Linda Lavin, Steven Berkoff and Kevin Breznahan. The trailer sets up the plot better than any text explanation can - this nice family man meets a "seductive stranger" and gets wrapped up in his own twisted story. This seems to be cutting it close to being straight-to-tv quality, so watch out. On the beat he sells murder, tragedy and anything that passes for the truth. At home he is a model family man, devoted to his loving wife (Jennifer Beals).

But when a seductive stranger (Yvonne Strahovski) asks him to dig into the unsolved murder of her filmmaker husband Simon (Campbell Scott), he can’t resist. In this modern version of a classic film noir, we follow Porter as he is drawn into a very nasty case of sexual obsession and blackmail – one that threatens his job, his marriage and his life.

Review: Pete goes missing on a devastating 'Horace and Pete'

28 March 2016 7:07 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Thoughts on this week's Horace and Pete coming up just as soon as I tell you my dad walked on the moon... Wow. Like the opening of Laurie Metcalf's monologue in episode 3, Pete's climactic hallucination in this week's installment was a reminder of the power of this TV/theater hybrid style Louis C.K. is using for Horace and Pete. There's a cinematic way to present the same material — possibly with a different lens and other techniques to distinguish the hallucination from a real scene at the bar, and/or with occasional cutaways to where Pete really is during all of this — that could have been pretty effective in its own right. But by limiting himself to what could be presented on a live stage, C.K. not only left the uncomfortable question of Pete's real whereabouts up to our imaginations, and also captured just how real these hallucinations must seem to him. »

Plot:

After Batman goes missing, Dick Grayson takes up his mantle as He and Damian Wayne have to protect Gotham City, while also trying to find the original Batman. Two new allies, Batwoman and Batwing arrive to help investigate Batman’s disappearance.

Verdict:

So here we are with another ‘Original’ movie from DC, who were once a Juggernaut when it came to releasing a constant stream of excellent animated movies that eclipsed the majority of DC’s live-action catalogue. But it does appear (apart from a few films like Jl: Gods and Monsters and Batman: Assault on Arkham) that things are not going to change any time soon (especially with how Justice League vs. »
