Johnny Knoxville and his extreme action sports group will see their self-titled film Nitro Circus The Movie 3D open in theaters Aug. 2. Based on the MTV series, it features Nitro Circus members performing dangerous stunts in the action sports arena such as attempting a backflip on a bike over a skyscraper and trying to land a death-defying jump while playing Angry Birds.
Arc Entertainment acquired worldwide rights to the film made by Red Bull Media House and exec produced by Knoxville's Dukes of Hazzard producer Bill Gerber. Nitro Circus ringleaders Gregg Godfrey and Jeremy Rawle shared directing duties. Travis Pastrana, Jolene Van Vugt, Streetbike Tommy, Erik Roner, Special Greg, Jim DeChamp, Aaron "Wheelz" Fotheringham and Parks Bonifay star in the film and Knoxville makes a cameo.
