Jeremy Renner is a busy man after The Hurt Locker skyrocketed him into the spotlight. Renner is joined by Gemma Arterton, who has also been enjoying the blockbuster spotlight recently with Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and Clash of the Titans. Set Photos: Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’

31 March 2011 3:00 PM, PDT | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton have started work on Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters, directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow). The first spy pics are already out, and the show the two actors suited up to kill some witches. Bigger images are below. The film is shooting in Germany, and Famke Janssen, Peter Stormare, Derek Mears and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal are also in the cast. We don't know too much about the story, other than that it picks up with the lives of Hansel and Gretel fifteen years after their childhood encounter with a witch. They've grown up to have a serious grudge against other witches, and are working as bounty hunters who take out spellcasting crazies. We can't tell too much from these photos -- there's a lot of leather, and, in general, the costumes look about as you'd expect for this sort of thing. But what is Hansel wearing on his wrist, »

31 March 2011 12:08 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

The first unofficial set photos from Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters have leaked online.  Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton star as the title characters who are still harboring resentment because they were almost killed by witches when they were kids.  There's nothing super-remarkable about the photos although you'll see that just because you're hunting witches, doesn't mean you can't look stylish. Hit the jump to check out the set photos.  Directed by Tommy Wirkola (Dead Snow), the film also stars Famke Janssen, Ingrid Bolsø Berdal, and Peter Stormare.  Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters opens in 3D on March 2, 2012. More casting announcements for ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’

As if the cast wasn’t already pretty full, what with stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the eponymous duo, Peter Stomare, and Ingrid Bolsø Berdal and Famke Janssen as a pair of witches, now comes new of two more actors who are taking up roles in director Tommy Wirkola’s Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters (3D).

Dread Central are reporting that Jason Vorhees himself – at least in the Friday the 13th remake, Derek Mears (pictured above), has joined the cast; along with Thomas Mann (Project X, iCarly). No news on what roles they will play, but given Mears’ size and previous acting roles I’d expect to see him under a ton of make-up as some sort of monster…

Jason Voorhees Joins 'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters'

The supermoon must have worked its evil mind-control magic over Tommy Wirkola regarding the latest bit of casting for 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters.' Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton have already been locked down for the title roles, with Famke Janssen and Norwegian actress Ingrid Bolsø Berdal as two of the witchy women who plot against them. The always-fun Peter Stormare plays the "villainous town sheriff," and now we can add bad guy Derek Mears to the cast.

Mears, who is best known for playing slasher icon Jason Voorhees, certainly adds a bit of muscle to the movie. He's joined by young actor Thomas Mann ('It's Kind of a Funny Story'). 'Hansel and Gretel' joins a growing list of dark reimaginings of fairy-tale classics. ‘Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters’ Plot Details Emerge

25 February 2011 10:48 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is just one of numerous supernatural action movie “re-envisionings” on the horizon, and it features rising stars Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton as the adult versions of the famous fairy tale siblings, who are now highly-skilled professional bounty hunters.

Villainous character actor Peter Stormare (of Prison Break and Fargo fame) and Norwegian actress Ingrid Bolsø Berdal signed on recently for the film, the plot of which has remained largely under wraps up to now – besides the obvious implications of the movie’s attention-grabbing title, that is.

Moviehole has gotten ahold of some juicy plot details for H&G: Witch Hunters, which is a $60 million project that will be shot in 3D and begins production next month overseas in Germany, under the ...

Peter Stormare Cast in ‘Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters’

24 February 2011 12:04 PM, PST | Slash Film | See recent Slash Film news »

The cast for Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, to be directed by Dead Snow helmer Tommy Wirkola, is looking pretty damn good. Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton play the title roles, while Famke Janssen is their spell-casting adversary. Now the film has added Peter Stormare, who can be so much fun as a scene-chewing villain, to the bad guy roster. Deadline [1] says that he'll be "the villainous town sheriff [named] Berringer." That's all we've got on his character. In general we don't know a lot about the film, other than the basic roles and the fact that it picks up years after the childhood experiences of Hansel and Gretel, when they have grown into vengeful hunters of witches. It's a simple concept that fits right in line with Hollywood's current love for mainstream-ready 'dark fantasy' takes on classic stories. Additionally, Norwegian actress Ingrid Bolsø Berdal has reportedly been cast as one of the film's witches. »
