Stephen Colletti and Jason Wahler don’t make many public appearances these days. However, the two reality TV stars used to be front and center in pop culture. Laguna Beach and The Hills fans know them from their embattled relationships with Lauren Conrad. Others may recognize them for their forays into acting (Colletti) and public battle with addiction (Wahler).

It took just 11 words to forever alter the history of reality television: "I want to forgive you, and I want to forget you."
Fans of The Hills will never forget Lauren Conrad's takedown of former best friend Heidi Montag, who — along with her then-boyfriend Spencer Pratt — was accused of spreading rumors about a sex tape between Lauren and Jason Wahler. But looking back, the mic-drop line overshadowed just how composed Lauren remained throughout their emotional conversation as she pressed Heidi to admit Spencer was behind the rumors, and when that failed, to recognize how much pain they caused her. Whether or not she was coached by a producer, Lauren's poise in that moment reflected the manicured nature of MTV's The Hills, which built upon Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County's soapy reputation with its manufactured storylines and relationships.

Coming clean with the ultimate '00s reunion. Kristin Cavallari served up all the nostalgic feels when she posted a photo to Instagram alongside Jason Wahler and Stephen Colletti. "Shenanigans," the 35-year-old captioned the snap on May 16, as she posed in between her former Laguna Beach co-stars in Nashville, Tenn. Fans were quick to point out that both Jason, 35, and Stephen, 36, famously dated Kristin's on-screen high-school nemesis Lauren "L.C." Conrad, who later went on to star in the spin-off series The Hills. After Lauren left the L.A.-based show halfway through its fifth season, she was subsequently replaced by Kristin...

“The Hills: New Beginnings” will not be returning for a third season on MTV, Variety has confirmed.
The reality TV reboot starred several key players from the original hit series, including Spencer and Heidi Pratt, Brody Jenner, Audrina Patridge, Justin Bobby Brescia, Whitney Port, Frankie Delgado and Jason Wahler. Newcomers included Ashley Wahler, Jennifer Delgado and Kaitlynn Carter, along with pizza entrepreneur Caroline D’Amore and Brandon Thomas Lee, the son of Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson. However, a source close to production tells Variety that the franchise is being reimagined and the IP will live on with new iterations to come. Previous seasons of “The Hills” are currently available to stream on Paramount Plus.

The rest will never be written.
According to Deadline, MTV has officially canceled The Hills: New Beginnings after two low-rated seasons.
The news should come as no surprise when you consider that the show has never been a big ratings performer for the young-skewing cabler.
A reboot of the popular reality series The Hills (2006-10), New Beginnings featured a mix of old and new cast members, but it had one big issue throughout its run:
It was boring.
Reality TV is typically filled with drama, but the drama was watered down.
Had MTV went in a drastically new direction by bringing no one from the original back, the show might have had legs to sustain storylines.
The series was in jeopardy after its first season.
MTV gave it a vote of confidence in the form of a speedy second-season pickup, but filming was delayed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The rest of The Hills: New Beginnings‘ story has now been written: MTV has cancelled the reality follow-up after two seasons, according to our sister site Deadline. But “new takes on the IP are possible” down the road, the report adds.

Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Jason Wahler, Frankie Delgado and Brody Jenner all returned for the freshman season, joined — for some reason — by The O.C. alum Mischa Barton. It's time to celebrate recovery—and the people who live it every single day. Across the country, it's difficult to find people who don't know someone personally affected by addiction. In July, a report from the United States government revealed that overdose deaths soared to a record 93,000 in 2020, a 29 percent increase from the year before Covid-19 impacted so many. While there are many stories of hardship and grief, National Recovery Month is observed every September to teach Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those struggling to live healthy and rewarding lives. Jason Wahler knows...

Jason Wahler is forever grateful for how far he has come. After making a splash on Laguna Beach and The Hills beginning in 2005, the MTV reality star found himself struggling with addiction, which led to drinking-related arrests and time behind bars. But after being introduced to Dr. Drew Pinsky on Celebrity Rehab in 2010, Jason slowly began changing his life. On Aug. 31, the 34-year-old father of two marked National Overdose Awareness Day with a personal post about his recovery. "I wanted to take a moment to acknowledge and pray for all those families who have lost loved ones and for those that are still struggling," he wrote on Instagram. "In an...

The cast and crew of “The Hills: New Beginnings” were just a few weeks into filming Season 2 when the world shut down due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
“I think that just immediately, it was super frustrating because we had been so excited to get going for Season 2 and we had a ton of really interesting developments,” executive producer Alex Baskin says of the halt in production. “We were all bummed out because we were hitting our stride, and then we were sidelined for a while.”
Production on “The Hills: New Beginnings” didn’t fully resume until November 2020, but Baskin wasn’t worried about the time spent apart affecting the quality of the show.
“The thing about this group is that there’s always story in that the relationships are always changing anyway, so you can always pick back up — it’s just at a different place,” Baskin says.

The Hills may not be dead quite yet.
Just weeks after it was announced the series has been placed on indefinite hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic, comes a glimmer of hope.
TMZ is reporting that MTV and Evolution Media are toying with the idea of putting the entire cast into a bubble for some time to finish filming the second season.
Three episodes were in the can ahead of the shutdown, and the producers put a wealth of safety measures in place to allow the cast to film the show safely.
Unfortunately for fans, MTV calls the shots here and they opted to keep the show out of production in a move that shocked the cast.
If the cast film in one home in a bubble, it would make it similar to the network's other series Jersey Shore: Family Vacation, which finds the cast leaving their families to live together.

The Hills: New Beginnings appears to be in danger at MTV.
As previously reported, the series was gearing up to return to production after being placed on hold due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
With safety measures in place, the reboot was just waiting for the green light from ViacomCBS to start filming.
Now, despite the safety measures to make sure the cast and crew could safely produce the show, ViacomCBS have placed production on hold indefinitely.
PageSix first reported the news, and notes that the cast and crew have been angered by the decision, as well as the lack of communication.
“Evolution has hired an outside consultant, an infectious disease doctor and a team that will be doing the testing – and, if need be, contact tracing – if someone was to get Covid-19,” an insider told Page Six.
“They’ve been in touch with LA County Health officials on a regular basis as well.

The Hills: New Beginnings will be back in production in the coming weeks.
Page Six is reporting that the MTV reality revival is set to resume filming on its sophomore run this summer.
At this moment in time, it's looking like a late July or early August return to filming, several months after the series was placed on hiatus due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
As expected, there will be new safety protocols in place to keep the cast and crew safe while new episodes are filmed.
“Production is working with health officials in Los Angeles County to assure a healthy filming situation,” an insider said.
“They will be doing some self-shooting but mostly back to filming with the new health regulations in place for filming.”
As previously reported, Mischa Barton has been let go from the series, and will have no presence on the second season.
Caroline D'Amore has been drafted in as her replacement.

MTV is making another run for “The Hills.”
The network has renewed “The Hills: New Beginnings” for a second season. The series follows a group of friends who live in Los Angeles as they write their newest chapters in relationships, romance and success.

“I knew Spencer [Pratt] was my soulmate the night I met him,” Heidi Pratt says in a voiceover, during the premiere’s opening.
“No one thought we’d last, but we have certainly proved them wrong,” she says, clinking glasses with her husband.

MTV unveiled the new theme song for its revival of “The Hills” during the MTV Movie & TV Awards on Monday.
The opening credits sequence for “The Hills: New Beginnings,” which will see much of the hit reality show’s original cast reconvene nearly a decade later, is scored to a remixed version of the original theme song, “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield.
Bedingfield teamed up with songwriter and producer Linda Perry to record the updated version, and MTV shared a bit of the process in a behind-the-scenes video (watch below).
“I wanted to re-sing [the vocals],” Bedinfield says in the clip. “I wanted to take where I’m at now, kind of give it that new spin.”

As anticipation builds for MTV’s “The Hills: New Beginnings,” premiering June 24, Stephanie Pratt promises the season will have plenty of the show’s trademark tension. “From the first five minutes, it’s just drama,” she told Variety at iHeartMedia’s 2019 Wango Tango concert on June 1. “It’s really lingered over, so it’s going to be an awkward press run with everyone this week.”
Members of the show’s original cast, which includes Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Spencer Pratt Justin Bobby and Jason Wahler, reunited at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards last summer. Nine years after The Hills concluded, The Hills: New Beginnings shows how life has changed for the stars of the hit MTV reality series. A trailer for the reboot released today brings the gang back together, and from the looks of things, they pick up right where they left off in 2010.
“There’s so much to catch up on,” Audrina Patridge says.
Heidi Pratt, who’s shown with her new baby, admits “life has drastically changed.”
Other returning cast members include Heidi’s husband Spencer Pratt, Frankie Delgado, Jason Wahler and his wife Ashley Wahler, “Justin Bobby” Brescia, Stephanie Pratt, Brody Jenner and his wife, Kaitlynn Carter Jenner.
Newcomer Mischa Barton (The O.C.) is also shown in the trailer — for a split second — but doesn’t say anything.
The original series aired on MTV from 2006-2010, and starred Lauren Conrad. But L.C. is now a fashion mogul and won’t be returning for the reboot.

So, how much has changed in the nine years since The Hills wrapped on MTV? It’s a fair question, one the cast enjoys discussing quite a bit in the full-length trailer for The Hills: New Beginnings. Unfortunately, it’s not a question that anyone actually answers. (Heck, we’re still not sure why former O.C. star Mischa Barton inexplicably shows up at the end.)
Regardless, nearly every cast member from the original series (2006–2010) is back for Round 2, including Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge, Whitney Port, Stephanie Pratt, Jason Wahler, Brody Jenner, Spencer Pratt, Justin Bobby and Frankie Delgado. In addition to Barton,...

It's almost time to head back to The Hills!
MTV has confirmed that the follow-up series, The Hills: New Beginnings will premiere Monday, June 24.
The cabler also dropped a brand new teaser for the series that shows off both the returning cast members and the new additions.
The expansive cast includes Heidi Pratt, Spencer Pratt, Stephanie Pratt, Audrina Patridge, Justin Bobby, Brody Jenner, Brandon Thomas Lee, Frankie Delgado, Jason Wahler, Kaitlynn Carver, Jennifer Delgado, Whitney Port, and even Mischa Barton.
The Hills aired from 2006-10 and was an instant hit for the network.
There was much speculation about whether the show was fake, and the final episode strongly implied that it was.
It remains to be seen whether that will be addressed in the reboot, or if the "New Beginnings" implies we'll be starting a fresh and forgetting most of what went down before this sequel series.
