Synthpop duo of singer/songwriter Andy Bell and songwriter/keyboardist Vince Clarke. They took their name from one of Bell's favourite films Eraserhead (1977).
There is a myth that the name of the band came about because of a demo submitted on a tape that had been marked for Erasure, as in "To be erased".
Credited for the "Top of the Pops" intro music at one point.
