Now that Fox’s annoying, time-consuming strategy of releasing three 30-second teases has concluded, we finally have the trailer for Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus. Though the preview only clocks in at a little over a minute, it serves as a tantalizing first look at one of next year’s most anticipated and mysterious blockbusters.
The first (and, quite possibly, only) thing many will discuss are the consistent visual similarities to That Movie This Isn’t Supposed to Be a Prequel To, but I can’t entirely blame them; there are some pretty significant stand-outs, after all — even the title font. (Did you notice a familiar face in one quick shot?) But, taken on its own, Prometheus looks like the kind of large-scale, thrilling sci-fi adventure we hope to receive every summer. Above all else, I can’t wait for Scott to break out of his monochrome, historical epic funk and return to his roots. »

It's the week of Prometheus! While Fox appears to have successfully pulled the bootlegged trailer offline, Empire Magazine has landed an exclusive new photo that depicts Michael Fassbender as what they call "a paranoid android". "Ridley Scott, director of 'Alien' and 'Blade Runner,' returns to the genre he helped define. With 'Prometheus', he creates a groundbreaking mythology, in which a team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race." In theaters June 8 (shot in 3-D nonetheless!), Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson all star. »

Such is the nature of big movies, wherein we get a preview for the preview. This stupid trend is continuing with Prometheus, which we’ll have a real look at on Thursday — but, in the meantime, Apple has debuted our first look at the Alien prequel in motion. Sadly, the rest of this is comprised of Ridley Scott offering some Epk-style appropriate about his own film.
In spite of those annoyances, the very first glimpses impress in their visual aesthetics. I’m particularly struck by how much this looks like Alien, what with the cinematography, set design, and costumes fitting right into the classic film. There isn’t much else to ponder for now, other than the acid-covered space helmet (seen above), which, as you can tell, further perpetuates a link to his past work. Watch it below:

If there was any doubt in your mind that Twentieth Century Fox's Prometheus was an Alien prequel be prepared to rid yourself of that ambivalence. While the actual Teaser arrives on the 22nd, this Teaser for The Teaser tells you in no uncertain terms that the film is set in the Alien universe. Even if the Xenomorphs in the film don't appear in the incarnation they did before, everything else points towards canon. The music, the imagery, the vibe and the still unseen Giger designs leave no more room for misinterpretation at this point. Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson all star in the film slated for release on June 8, 2012. »

After a few official photos, 20th Century Fox is finally starting to kick up marketing for Ridley Scott‘s big sci-fi tentpole Prometheus. A trailer is hitting this month and we have the first official theatrical poster in glorious hi-res, with a tagline reading, “The search for our beginning could lead to our end.” Collider provides the poster, which has a clear connection to Alien in look and feel.
We also get word from AICN that Marc Streitenfeld will be composing the film. It is a safe, predictable choice considering he has provided the score to many other Scott’s films including his most recent, Robin Hood, as well as A Good Year, Body of Lies and American Gangster. He’ll next be heard in The Grey.

A little over a week ago we got some lo-res scans for Ridley Scott’s highly-anticipated sci-fi blockbuster Prometheus. 20th Century Fox was now kind enough to send over high-resolution versions today, including a new behind-the-scenes pic with Scott himself and star Noomi Rapace. The cast also includes Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Logan Marshall-Green, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster and Patrick Wilson.
Before we get to the rest of the photos, MTV spoke with Fox head honcho Tom Rothman, who talked about the leaked trailer (how it is a very early cut) and his excitement for the film. Nothing revelatory, but a good watch. These new photos also don’t reveal any new information of course, but you can see them all above and below, and click for hi-res.

Prometheus Teaser Trailer Bootleg. Ridley Scott‘s Prometheus (2012) teaser trailer bootleg stars Noomi Rapace, Charlize Theron, Michael Fassbender, Idris Elba, and Logan Marshall-Green. Prometheus‘ plot synopsis: “A team of explorers discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a journey to the darkest corners of the universe. There, they must fight a terrifying battle to save the future of the human race.”
The quality of this bootleg sucks but the score to the film (gleamed from this Prometheus bootleg) is excellent and the tension in the scenes (between characters and in the precarious situations they find themselves in) is good. Bring on the official, HD version.
Prometheus‘ cast also includes Patrick Wilson, Guy Pearce, Rafe Spall, Sean Harris, Kate Dickie, Emun Elliott, Vladimir ‘Furdo’ Furdik, and James Embree.

After showing off some footage at Comic-Con this summer we’ve barely gotten a peep from 20th Century Fox regarding Ridley Scott‘s sci-fi adventure Prometheus. Things are about to change, with a rumored trailer coming soon, and a new batch of images arriving today from Entertainment Weekly via Bd.
We finally get our first, honest look at our lead characters including Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Logan Marshall-Green. The trio of them look somewhat plasticky, but I look forward to seeing them in motion. The other photos reveal a landscape of eggs and something referred to as the “Ampule Room,” containing a massive head. What does it all mean? Beats me. But hopefully we’ll get our first answers with a trailer. In the meantime, check out the images below for the film also starring Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Benedict Wong, »

It takes quite a bit to get me genuinely excited these days. Twentieth Century Fox and director Ridley Scott have just knocked me on my ass. Entertainment Weekly plays host to a handful of first every imagery from Prometheus, Scott's Alien prequel that looks beyond massive in scope. The pictorial appears to be of the "makers'" planet or ship, along with their own version of the Alien eggs. As previously reported, the film follows a team of explorers who discover a clue to the origins of mankind on Earth, leading them on a thrilling journey to the darkest corners of the universe. Put 1+1 together or find out on June 8, 2012. Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster, Patrick Wilson all star. »

Some of us enjoy spoilers, others (like me) wish I could avoid them all together. This morning MTV posted a major character spoiler in their effin' headline for Ridley Scott's now-filming Prometheus, the Alien prequel starring Noomi Rapace, Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba, Sean Harris, Guy Pearce, Kate Dickie, Rafe Spall, Logan Marshall-Green, Benedict Wong, Emun Elliott, Ben Foster and Patrick Wilson (weeeeeewwwwwww). What was the spoiler you ask? If you don't want to know, look away now. The site confirmed in an interview with Michael Fassbender that he'll be starring as an android in the vein of Ash (Ian Holm) in Alien and Bishop (Lance Henriksen) in Aliens. No other interesting bits were talked about, but this is a pretty major role that taps into some of the best themes in the franchise. Damon Lindelof penned the screenplay. »
