Ashley Rickards

Awkward., Season 3, Episode 10: “Redefining Jenna”

Written by Lauren Iungerich

Directed by Lauren Iungerich

Airs Tuesdays at 10 Pm on MTV

In many ways, throughout Awkward.’s run, Jenna has been mature beyond her years, a maturity that has only been pushed farther by the circumstances she has faced. With things going well for her, her maturity has slowly begun to manifest itself as she’s discovered an affinity for people and interests outside her social circle. This episode dives further into the idea that Jenna’s recent discomfort with her life is the result of her changing and becoming a new person, delivering a poignant episode to close out the first half of the third season.

The growing connection between Jenna and Collin was fascinating to observe this week. In many ways, Collin is less of a person, and seemingly more of a personification of Jenna’s changing »

‘Awkward’ Recap: Jenna Faces Her Feelings For Collin

11 June 2013 9:09 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Spoiler alert: Stop reading if you haven’t watched this week’s ‘Awkward!’

Is Awkward even a comedy anymore? Because after witnessing Jenna’s (Ashley Rickards) actions on the June 11 mid-season finale, I’ll tell you one thing: I ain’t laughin’.

I’m referring, of course, to her unpardonable sin, the one thing we’ve all been fearing would come since the first episode of the season: She kissed Collin (Nolan Funk)! Yes, it was passionate. Yes, it was epic. But most importantly, it was wrong.

To be honest, I don’t really care what’s going on in Jenna’s head; Matty (Beau Mirchoff) has been the perfect boyfriend this season — not only has he put up with her incessant pity parties, but he even learned how to dance/give good face for her — and what she did this week was unforgivable.

In fact, both Matty and Jake »

‘Awkward’ Recap: Jenna & Matty Take A Surprising Next Step

30 April 2013 7:59 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Plus, who had sex — and possibly a sandwich?

“I’m sorry I took your daughter’s virginity.” Yes, that line was actually spoken aloud on the April 30 episode of Awkward, as the show truly lived up to its name like never before. Jenna (Ashley Rickards) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff) were forced to discuss their sex life over dinner with all four of their parents — but that wasn’t the strangest part of the episode.

No, the strangest part came at the very end when Matty showed up on the Hamiltons’ doorstep — asking if he could crash for a while!

While having Matty under her roof will probably seem great to Jenna at first — the previews show her walking in on him in a towel, which is kind of a treat for everyone — we see that it begins to take a toll on their relationship. Only on television would anyone ever »

‘Awkward’ Recap: Jenna Keeps Her Distance & Sadie Goes Soft

23 April 2013 8:18 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Plus, the ‘Who killed Ricky Schwartz’ mystery thickens — because, hey, why not?

The April 23 episode of Awkward was, strangely enough, all about murder. As newly-dethroned vice principal Val (Desi Lydic) interrogated Sadie (Molly Tarlov) about Ricky Schwartz’ death-by-peanut, Jenna (Ashley Rickards) was busy inadvertently twisting a knife in her relationship with Matty (Beau Mirchoff) — and it was a total bloodbath.

Fearing that communication of any kind would lead to a breakup, Jenna tried to put as much distance between herself and Matty as possible. But Jenna’s little plan backfired when a group date turned into a walk down Memory Lane with Jake (Brett Davern), and that’s when things got really weird…

In a twist I had to see to believe, Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) actually stepped up as the voice of reason for once, telling Jenna to cut the crap and leave Jake in the past. This led »

‘Awkward’ Season Premiere: Jenna’s New Secret Births A Fight With Matty

16 April 2013 5:34 PM, PDT | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Jenna may have opted out of taking a drama class, but that’s Ok — she’s basically living one!

The April 16 season premiere of Awkward brought about a new school year for Jenna (Ashley Rickards), and with it, and whole new set of challenges. Not only does she suddenly have to stomach Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed) and Jake (Brett Davern) being all up in each other’s biz, but she’s also discovering that growing up might mean growing apart — from Matty (Beau Mirchoff)!

R.I.P., Jenna & Matty?

That’s right, “Team Matty” members; you guys are officially in trouble. (Please note: I did not include myself in that. I’ve always been “Team Jake,” and now that he’s got a sexy new ‘do, I support him more strongly than ever.)

Things Get Even More 'Awkward' This Season

16 April 2013 4:58 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

"Awkward" Season 3 premieres April 16 at 10 p.m. Et on MTV, and in preparation for more shenanigans at Palos Hills High, The Huffington Post visited the Los Angeles-based set to catch up with the cast. We talked to Brett Davern (Jake), Beau Mirchoff (Matty), Jillian Rose Reed (Tamara), Molly Tarlov (Sadie), Greer Grammer (Lissa), Desi Lydic (Val) and Nikki DeLoach (Lacey) about what junior year has in store, including more romantic entanglements and a potential pregnancy.

Although Ashley Rickards told us that Jenna and Matty are "very in love" after summer vacation, that doesn't mean their lives are free of drama -- it's high school, after all.

Jake and Tamara had an unexpected hook-up in the Season 2 finale, and Reed acknowledged that although Jenna gave Bff Tamara her blessing to date Jenna's ex, "It doesn't matter if you say 'go for it,' it's still gonna be strange. Tamara and Jenna weren't together over the summer, »

When Awkward. wrapped up last September, the gang had finished their sophomore year: Jenna (Ashley Rickards) had resolved her mommy issues and Dtr’d with Matty (Beau Mirchoff). Awkward Season 3 Preview: Change Really Blows

16 April 2013 6:36 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

The promos Awkward Season 3 tell us that “Change Blows” - and once I checked in to see where we find everyone in the new season of the 2013 People’s Choice Award-winner for Favorite Cable TV Comedy, that phrase may be an understatement.

Last season’s ‘who will Jenna choose’ story is over and Jenna (Ashley Rickards) and Matty (Beau Mirchoff) are solid, while Jake (Brett Davern) spent the summer with his new love, Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed).

But, never fear, things are anything but calm as our gang faces new challenges.

I recently spent some time on the Awkward set in Los Angeles to find out what we can expect with the new season, discovering there’s lots of fun (and heavy) stuff to come!

Jillian tells HollywoodLife.com to expect ‘darker twists and turns’ in season three.

Major changes are afoot as the kids of Palos Verdes High School head into their junior year, one of the biggest being Tamara’s (Jillian Rose Reed) new relationship with Jake (Brett Davern)! When Awkward returns April 16, the sappy couple is in full-swing — and Jillian tells HollywoodLife.com it’ll put Tamara’s friendship with Jenna (Ashley Rickards) in jeopardy.

“I always say that I think Tamara and Jenna can make it through anything, but at the beginning of the season, there are some very weird feelings,” Jillian says. “In the first few episodes, you’ll see that Jenna is a little jealous of Tamara, and there’s a moment where Tamara has to stand up to her and tell her this is how it has to be.”

"Awkward" Season 3 premieres on MTV this Tuesday (April 16 at 10 p.m. Et) and The Huffington Post caught up with star Ashley Rickards (the long-suffering Jenna Hamilton) to find out what junior year has in store for the quick-witted, fast-talking teens of Palos Hills High.

Last season, Jenna had the enviable task of choosing between Jake (Brett Davern) or Matty (Beau Mirchoff) as both boys vied for her affection -- ending the season back together with Matty, her summer camp hook-up and the guy she lost her virginity to. Now, as we return from another steamy summer, are they still together? And was Jake's school trip in Europe with Jenna's Bff, Tamara (Jillian Rose Reed), a dream or a nightmare? Rickards gave us a preview of what we can expect below, and we'll have more intel from the rest of the cast on Tuesday before the premiere.

1. Is Sadie pregnant? While I love the idea of a baby’s first words being “you’re welcome,” I couldn’t help but gasp in horror when the trailer revealed rumors of a Sadie (Molly Tarlov) spawn. I’d be even more horrified if the baby »
