Before beginning his film career, Lance wrote more than thirty screenplays and received nineteen national screenplay competition awards. It took eight years. With this, he then started selling/optioning his scripts.
Parents owned video stores and he grew up watching many movies.
Earned a Banking & Finance degree from The University of Michigan.
Directors he looks up to: David Lean, Elia Kazan, Frank Kapra.
As a kid, while living in Africa, he watched the movie 'Out Of Africa' and was blown away. "If mountains with music is the closest thing to heaven then so be it." It is then he decided to be a filmmaker one day.
Went to an all boys boarding school in England for high school.
