Shameless scribe, Latoya Morgan, late of Turn: Washington's Spies, has signed on to pen the second season of the Into the Badlands TV show on AMC. According to Deadline, Morgan has inked a two-year overall deal with AMC, to work on existing shows and develop new series. Morgan previously wrote for the Complications TV series, which was cancelled after one season on USA Network.
The Into the Badlands TV series cast includes: Daniel Wu, Orla Brady, Sarah Bolger, Aramis Knight, Emily Beecham, Oliver Stark, Madeleine Mantock, Ally Ioannides, Marton Csokas, and Benjamin Papac. The second season of this futuristic marital arts drama, created by Al Gough and Miles Millar, should premiere on AMC in 2017.

London — Martial arts drama “Into the Badlands” has been licensed worldwide with eOne, which handles international distribution, inking more than 260 territory deals on the show. In the U.S., AMC Networks recently ordered a 10-episode second season of the series, which made its international sales debut at Mipcom last year.
Foreign buyers include Amazon in the U.K. and Germany; HBO in Denmark, Finland, Norway and Sweden; Universum Film in Austria, Germany, Luxembourg and Switzerland; Viacom in Italy; and TV2 in Norway.
As previously announced, eOne has also licensed the show to LeTV in China, Foxtel in Australia, SoHo in New Zealand, and CMore in Scandinavia, as well as to AMC Global in over 125 countries, including regions throughout Asia, Latin America and Central Europe, as well as Benelux and Spain. EOne has an exclusive multi-year output agreement with AMC Networks for all original scripted series.

The drama will return for a 10-episode second season that is slated to premiere on AMC in 2017.
The show delivered the third highest-rated first season in U.S. cable TV history, averaging 5.6 million viewers per episode.

Vulture talked to AMC and Sundance TV's President and Gm Charlie Collier, and their President of Original Programming and Development, Joel Stillerman, about a number of AMC programs. From the 75 minute conversation came promising news for the Into the Badlands TV series.

AMC has released the whole first series of its Into the Badlands comics, which serve as a prequel for the first season of the Into the Badlands TV series. Featuring the art of Steve Ellis (who drew prequel comics for Breaking Bad and its spin-off prequel, Better Call Saul), the Into the Badlands comics are written by TV series writers Matt Okumura and Justin Doble.
