Director Shawn Levy gives an update on Real Steel 2

8 September 2014 2:15 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Back in 2011, Hugh Jackman entered the world of robot boxing for director Shawn Levy’s sci-fi drama Real Steel, which pulled in almost $300 million around the globe, leading DreamWorks to announce a sequel, with Jackman, Dakota Goyo and Evangeline Lilly all slated to return. Well, it’s almost three years later and we’ve heard very little about the status of the sequel, but now Shawn Levy has provided an update to SuperHeroHype, stating that Real Steel 2 is still alive, although the clock seems to be ticking:

“We have been quietly developing a sequel to Real Steel for three and a half years. We’ve come up with some great scripts but Hugh and I would only make it if the plot feels fresh, but also the character journeys feel fresh, and we’ve found both but never at the same time. It’s ongoing. I know the clock is ticking. »

'Real Steel 2' Secretly Being Planned; Hugh Jackman Will Return

7 September 2014 1:45 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

While doing press for his new film This Is Where I Leave You, director Shawn Levy revealed that he has secretly been developing a sequel to his 2011 hit Real Steel for the past 3 and a half years.

The filmmaker revealed that Hugh Jackman is ready to reprise his role as Charlie Kenton, but they will only make a follow-up if they can find a fresh story.

"We have been quietly developing a sequel to Real Steel for three and a half years. We've come up with some great scripts but Hugh and I would only make it if the plot feels fresh, but also the character journeys feel fresh, and we've found both but never at the same time. It's ongoing. I know the clock is ticking. That movie, weirdly, for a movie that did very well globally--it did okay domestically--but the love for Real Steel remains kind of unique »

Noah Movie Review

Title: Noah Directed By: Darren Aronofsky Starring: Russell Crowe, Jennifer Connelly, Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Emma Watson, Logan Lerman, Douglas Booth, Leo McHugh Carroll, Madison Davenport, Gavin Casalegno, Nolan Gross, Skylar Burke, Dakota Goyo When you’ve got Darren Aronofsky bringing a Biblical tale to screen, expectations are through the roof. “Noah” may not meet those expectations, but the film does nestle in just a few notches below. It isn’t a mind-blowing epic, but it’s certainly a riveting and worthy retelling of this story. The film kicks off with a partial recap of creation, specifically what went down with Adam and Eve, and what became of their children, Cain, Abel and  [ Read More ]

New Noah Featurette and a Plethora of Images – Early Reviews Positive

21 March 2014 10:19 AM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Paramount PicturesNoah movie will finally be released in theaters Friday, March 28th and the first reviews coming in are very positive.

Variety critic Scott Foundas calls director Darren Aronofsky’s film a, “bold, personal, visually extravagant take on the Old Testament tale.” (review)

The Hollywood Reporter’s critic, Todd McCarthy, writes, “Working on by far his biggest budget in the wake of the great global success of Black Swan, Aronofsky bulks up his film not only with naturalistic spectacle but with fantastical elements that evoke both Ray Harryhausen and Peter Jackson; creatures rise up from the sea, a whole forest takes instantaneous shape at Noah’s convenience and there is far more swordplay and fighting than one ever imagined in this story.” (review)

Devin Faraci over at Badass Digest has the best review of the bunch. “And don’t get me started on what God is doing. Noah doesn »

12 March 2014 7:38 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

If early word is anything to go by, Darren Aronofsky's Noah looks like it could turn out to be a hugely divisive film, with the Biblical epic drawing comparison's with another of Aronofsky's ambitious projects, The Fountain. That could potentially spell bad news for Paramount Pictures, who will surely have lofty financial ambitions for the director's first studio blockbuster. Anyway,Harry Potter).

with its release now just a couple of weeks away a new trailer has arrived online, which is introduced by Emma Watson (Harry Potter).

Noah sees Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) leading the cast as the Ark-builder, while the cast also includes Jennifer Connelly (Requiem for a Dream), Douglas Booth (Romeo and Juliet), Logan Lerman (Percy Jackson), Anthony Hopkins (Thor: The Dark World), Ray Winstone (Snow White and the Huntsman), Kevin Durand (Resident Evil: Retribution), Marton Csokas (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter) and Dakota Goyo (Real Steel).

Noah Movie Trailer 2

11 March 2014 12:22 PM, PDT | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

“Audiences can expect all the great moments of the Noah story . . . the Ark, the animals, the Nephilim, the first rainbow, the dove. But hopefully they are captured in new and unexpected ways. Instead of repeating what’s been seen before, we looked carefully at what is written in Genesis, and then created a setting on screen where we felt these miracles could take place.”

- Director Darren Aronofsky

Just as Noah was finishing the Ark, the skies darkened, the floodgates opened and the hardest rain earth has ever known fell upon the land for 40 days and 40 nights. Check out the second trailer for Paramount PicturesNoah.

14 New 'Noah' Pictures, Plus New TV Spot and Motion Poster

4 March 2014 6:38 AM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

Darren Aronofsky's Noah is almost upon us and a batch of 16 new pictures have just come online along with a new "Chosen" TV Spot and a "Flood" motion poster, which is to say, Batten down the hatches, marketing ahoy! Of the pics, I found the first one on the second page the most interesting, exemplifying the size of the ark that was built for the production as Aronofsky and Jennifer Connelly chat it out. The batch of images come from Cine Marcado (via The Playlist) and among them are several shots from the film combined with behind-the-scenes looks such as the one I just described. Additionally, at the bottom of the second page is a new motion poster for the film, which itself is essentially just a brief trailer that ends with the look of the poster. You've seen 'em before, but you may be interested in this one. »

New Character Posters for Russell Crowe & Jennifer Connelly in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah

12 February 2014 2:15 AM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Darren Aronofsky’s Noah is just weeks away from hitting the big screen, and with an IMAX release going alongside its arrival in regular theatres, you can be sure that it will live up to the scope of the biblical epic.

Paramount launched the first trailers late last year, following them up more recently with a Super Bowl TV spot and a new poster, the first to feature all of the leading cast, rather than just leading man Russell Crowe.

Now the studio have released two new international character posters for Crowe and leading lady Jennifer Connelly, reuniting here after working together on Ron Howard’s brilliant A Beautiful Mind.

Russell Crowe stars as Noah, a man chosen by God for a great task before an apocalyptic flood destroys the world.

Noah

Director: Darren Aronofsky

Writers: Darren Aronofsky, Ari Handel

Producers: Darren Aronofsky, Scott Franklin, Arnon Milchan, Mary Parent

Cast: Russell Crowe, Emma Watson, Jennifer Connelly, Logan Lerman, Kevin Durand, Douglas Booth, Anthony Hopkins, Sami Gayle, Marton Csokas, Dakota Goyo, Madison Davenport, Barry Sloane, Nick Nolte, Frank Langella, Ray Winstone

We’re more curious as to how it’ll fit in a timeline that gave us Pi, Requiem for a Dream, The Fountain, The Wrestler and Black Swan than the actual budget size of the project. Taking a page from Alfonso Cuarón’s playbook – Noah may warrant the mandatory popcorn fare a la Gravity label or will be Darren Aronofsky’s Titanic-sized shipwreck.

Gist: The Biblical Noah suffers visions of an apocalyptic deluge and takes measures to protect his family from the coming flood.

Release Date: Wide release on March 28th. Happy Easter everyone!
