ITV expected to bid again for eOne

12 August 2016 3:31 AM, PDT | ScreenDaily | See recent ScreenDaily news »

Analysts suggest that eOne’s film business could be offloaded if the deal goes through.

ITV is set to increase its offer to buy the Twilight and Peppa Pig proprietor Entertainment One (eOne) after its initial $1,3bn (£1bn) offer was rejected, according to analysts.

A number of leading M&A experts told Screen’s sister publication Broadcast that they expected the commercial broadcaster to table an improved offer for the Canadian-based, London-listed distributor of films including Spotlight and The Bfg.

Charles Leveque, partner at law firm Harbottle and Lewis said: “I wouldn’t be surprised if they came back with a higher bid. This is only its first bid and in this sort of process they usually start lower and work their way up. The killer question is how far would they be prepared to go?”

eOne, which produces and distributes around 40,000 film and television titles, told the London Stock Exchange that the bid “fundamentally undervalued the company »

Hayley Atwell would be “very happy” to lead Agent Carter on a new mission — and Marvel TV would be very happy to accommodate her. There’s just one none-too-small factor standing in the way.

Someone needs to first step forward and offer a home for said TV-movie special (as Atwell has suggested) or whatever form the revival might come in.

During an appearance at the Television Critics Association press tour to promote her upcoming TV series Conviction [check out two promos here], Hayley Atwell has been discussing her previous ABC series, Marvel’s Agent Carter, stating that she “would be very happy” to reprise the role of Peggy Carter, should the opportunity arise in the future.

“It was unclear if Agent Carter would go ahead,” said Atwell (via The Wrap). “We felt by the end of the second season, that it was always one of those much-loved but little kind of places in the world of ABC. It was always very much up in the air… When [Conviction] came about, ABC said, this is not ‘We’re cancelling Agent Carter,’ this is ‘we’ve got a great new project, we really want you in the center of it, we want to see if it’s going to go.’ There was talk of, do we do an Agent Carter special? »

Hayley Atwell saw her own funeral. And it's all thanks to Chris Evans. Sort of. The Conviction star, who has played Peggy Carter in the Marvel Cinematic universe for close to seven years, saw Peggy Carter's funeral as it happened in Captain America: Civil War thanks to texts from Evans. "Chris sent me a picture of him filming my funeral. Like, 'You look pretty hot when you're old and dead,'" Atwell told E! News at the 2016 TCA Summer Press Tour. "I went on set and I got her funeral program and I've kept it. It was great, she had a great turnout. She was obviously a very-liked lady. So I think she had a good send off." Hayley Atwell Doesn't Believe We've Seen The Last Of Agent Carter In The McU

5 August 2016 3:59 AM, PDT | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

While she started out as a love interest in the first Captain America film, Hayley Atwell's Peggy Carter has grown into a much-loved and well-respected character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With multiple appearances in McU films, Atwell went on to headline her own series, Agent Carter, which focused on the adventures of the character in the years after World War II. Unfortunately, the show was recently cancelled, despite a cliffhanger ending for season 2. Fans petitioned for a third season, but it doesn't seem to be in the cards, at least for the time being. Speaking on a Television Critics Association panel for her upcoming fall show, Conviction, Atwell reiterated that she would find a way manage both series if ABC would allow her to. “I think they would have figured something out in terms of making a special or waiting until we finish this season and then me »

Marvel TV: ABC is looking at multiple new shows

Rob Leane Aug 5, 2016

With Agent Carter dropped and Marvel's Most Wanted shut down, ABC is looking for "creatively strong" new shows...

It was a dark time for Marvel TV when we heard that the Hayley Atwell-starring Agent Carter wouldn't be returning for a third season, at the exact same time as the news broke that Nick Blood and Adrianne Palicki's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. spin-off, Marvel's Most Wanted (which the flagship Marvel TV show went to great lengths to tee up, and ABC shot a pilot for), wouldn't be going ahead.

Today, there's a glimmer of hope for ABC's Marvel output. Those projects are both still dead, but the network is on the lookout for other Marvel Comics-themed projects to develop.

"We all came to an agreement that the next show that we want to do together is something that is as creatively strong as it can be, »

Viewers may have said goodbye to Agent Carter when ABC axed it after two seasons, but Hayley Atwell is certainly not ready to say farewell to her beloved Marvel character. "I don't feel like I've said goodbye to her. She does still seem to live on a lot for fans. Marvel is still such a big part of my career and I suppose my professional family, but I would absolutely not rule out the idea of going back to Peggy at some point, seeing her in other avenues," Atwell told reporters after a panel at the 2016 TCA Summer Press Tour for her new ABC series Conviction. "I love her and I hope that she has a life elsewhere in another time." Carter's involvement with Conviction came about before Agent »

Transitioning from Marvel’s Agent Peggy Carter to playing former First Daughter Hayes Morrison in ABC’s Conviction was easy, Hayley Atwell insisted at TCA this afternoon, despite the lack of source material. The only thing people are privy to are the “public persona” of First Daughters, she said, noting we rarely get to know the “ins and outs” of the First Family’s unresolved issues. “I looked at watching people in positions of power and the faces they choose to put on… »

When Hayley Atwell was cast in ABC’s new drama pilot “Conviction,” there was unease within the “Agent Carter” fanbase, since it seemed like a bad sign for the Marvel series’ future. But it was far from certain, even though ultimately “Agent Carter” was canceled and “Conviction” was picked up to series. “It was unclear if ‘Agent Carter‘ would go ahead,” Atwell told reporters of that period of uncertainly, after the “Conviction” panel at the Television Critics’ Association’s summer press tour in Beverly Hills. “We felt by the end of the second season, that it was always one of those much-loved but. »

Hayley Atwell Ready to Move From ‘Agent Carter’ to ‘Conviction’

Her turn as a Marvel hero didn’t last long, but Hayley Atwell is trying to come back to TV with “Conviction.” “Agent Carter,” which starred the British actress as a 1940s spy and was set in the Marvel universe of “Captain America,” ran for just two seasons on ABC before getting the ax earlier this year. But Atwell returns this fall in ABC’s procedural drama “Conviction,” playing Hayes Morrison, a former president’s daughter who is blackmailed into heading up a legal team that investigates possible wrongful convictions. ABC Talking with Lucasfilm About ‘Star Wars’ Series; Orders Kyra Sedgwick Drama

4 August 2016 10:53 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

New ABC Entertainment president Channing Dungey may be bullish on fall, but she’s already looking ahead at the network’s future slate – including a potential “Star Wars” series.

With Marvel and other Disney properties (like “The Muppets” last season) having already populated ABC’s primetime lineup, is a “Star Wars”-themed series on the horizon? Dungey was non-committal, but did at least reveal that there have been talks.

“As a fan, I’d love to say yes,” Dungey said of a “Star Wars” show on ABC. “We have had conversations with [Lucasfilm] and they will continue. It would be wonderful to expand that brand on our programming.”

Dungey declined to give any more details, including whether it’s a live-action or animated “Star Wars” property they’re discussing. Later, she only repeated that talks are ongoing. (It’s obviously very much in an early stage.)

Netflix just announced the fate of Marvel’s ‘Agent Carter’

28 July 2016 9:07 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

There's been several months of fan campaigning to save Marvel's Agent Carter after ABC decided to cancel it after two seasons. Now Netflix, the main hope for its continuation, has officially given word on its future. The news comes from Entertainment Weekly out of the Television Critics Association (TCA) Netflix presentation today where chief content officer Ted Sarandos gave the verdict - they will not be picking up Agent Carter. I was holding out hope for Peggy's return for sure but deep down I think I knew it wasn't going to happen. The reason is all business of course. “We’re looking for truly original brands to own,” Sarandos said, “and in that Marvel space we already have [original comic book shows] – so that was mostly why.” While it's true, Netflix already has Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders set as series, most thought that meant it was only natural »
