The Australian Centre for the Moving Image has secured a season for Dreams Come True: The Art of Disney’s Classic Fairy Tale – an exhibition celebrating Disney Animation, opening on November 18.
The move sees Acmi continuing its series of successful international exhibitions which have attracted the largest crowds the centre has seen, from its Pixar and video games efforts in previous years, to the current Tim Burton: The Exhibition, which has broken attendance records.
The new Disney exhibition was conceived by John Lasseter, chief creative officer at Disney/Pixar Animation Studios, as a “cultural gift” to New Orleans, and curated by Lella Smith, creative director for the Disney Animation Research Library.
It will feature more than 600 original artworks, models and animation cells from Disney’s films, including the upcoming Tangled.
