For a hefty payment, Bollywood stars will turn up and pretend to be a relative or close friend
It is hard to imagine a more celebrity-obsessed nation than Britain. Yet in Mumbai – home of Bollywood, where society weddings can cost more than £500,000 – there is a new must-have accessory: the celebrity wedding guest.
Couples can no longer expect their nuptials to grace the pages of celebrity magazines such as Stardust unless a household name is in their wedding party. And as not everyone can be best mates with Shahrukh Khan, pictured (India's answer to Tom Cruise), celebs are now charging to pretend to be genuine guests. Actress Minissha Lamba, who was last seen in ‘Well Done Abba’, seems to be praying a lot these days possibly in the hope of some good Bollywood projects.
The actress went to Ajmer Sharif shrine Thursday.
‘It’s been a week of divinity. On my way to Ajmer Sharif… it’s my very first visit. Will pray for all who need peace in their hearts,’ Minissha posted on Twitter.

Four Indian films will be screened at the 54th BFI London Film Festival which will be held from October 13-28. The films- Gulaal by Anurag Kashyap, Ride the Wave Johnny by Sudhir Mishra, Well Done Abba by Shyam Benegal and Janala by Buddhadeb Dasgupta will be presented in the ‘World Cinema’ section of the festival.
The festival website describes K K Menon, Aditya Srivastav, Piyush Mishra starrer Gulaal as – “A power-packed and provocative mélange of political intrigue, corruption, love and deceit, sewn together with poetic sensibilities and an evocative folk-music score.”
In Ride the Wave Johnny, Sudhir Mishra tells the story of Johnny, a young boy from the Mumbai slums who dreams of escaping to Dubai, but who instead must deal drugs supplied by a local mafia don to make a living. The film stars Neil Nitin Mukesh, Soha Ali Khan and K K Menon.

New Delhi, June 23 – After styling Bollywood divas like Lara Dutta and Deepika Padukone, among others, designer Mandira Wirk is making her movie debut with ‘Hum Tum Aur Shabana’. She is designing Minissha Lamba’s wardrobe for the film and says it’s just a gradual shift.
