Miley Cyrus, Darren Criss, Adele, Maroon 5 team up to pay tribute to Bob Dylan

23 November 2011 12:29 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

While Miley Cyrus isn't the first person to come to mind when making a wishlist of artists to cover Bob Dylan songs, we have to admit -- we're really looking forward to this album.

Miley and a host of her contemporaries have joined forces to pay tribute to both Bob Dylan and Amnesty International with a new cover album. The record, titled "Chimes of Freedom," features a huge variety of artists -- from Pete Seeger to Ke$ha.

"Glee" star Darren Criss even makes a contribution to the four-disc compilation, covering New Morning with his brother, Chuck Criss, and his band the Freelance Whales. The jam-packed album, which "salutes Amnesty International's 50th anniversary and life-saving human rights work," is set for a January 24 release. Check out the list of songs and artists below to see which classic your favorite singer will be covering.

The Glee Project Recap: The Kids Stay in the Picture, But Who Deserves to Win It All?

15 August 2011 7:12 AM, PDT | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

A single, dramatic tear streaming down a contestant’s cheek may have altered the outcome of this week’s episode of The Glee Project.

Indeed, head judge and Glee executive producer Ryan Murphy seemed to be on the brink of booting dreadlocked Christian hottie Samuel from the competition, noting that he’d never seen the kid break down and then have to pick himself up by the bootstraps. “When was the last time you cried?” Ryan asked suspiciously. “You’re not the underdog.”

Samuel revealed that he’d actually shed some tears just a day prior when he wondered if »

"Glee" Episode 216 Recap: Gay Romance and Rockin' Regionals

16 March 2011 6:36 AM, PDT | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

"They kissed."

I saw that as a trending topic on Twitter, and I thought, no, could it be? I usually try to avoid Twitter for the three hours leading up to airtime, and particularly #kurtrules and #gaysharks, because I'm in California and I don't want to be spoiled, but never, no, not once have a made it all the way to 8 Pm without at least getting a rough idea what happens and what the Queer Nation thinks about it.

This was another landmark week in same-sex high school romance for Gleeks. The two most recent episodes have represented for queer youth and coming of age in a way I've never seen on broadcast television before, let alone one of the most popular shows in the country, with a mostly young audience. If you want a hard-hitting critical analysis of "Original Songs," definitely do not read this re-cap. Glee is making »

Glee s2e13 review: "Comeback"

17 February 2011 5:27 AM, PST | Shadowlocked | See recent Shadowlocked news »

Glee becomes harder to write about with every episode. The problem, surprisingly, isn’t the elements which drive me batshit or its flailing inconsistency of character, it’s that I’m not entirely clear on what made me care about the show in the first place anymore. I assume it was fun, funny, fresh and some other “f” word that means something good. I seem to remember a shrewdness to its dark humor and “did they just say that?” lines which didn’t make me roll my eyes.

The show has become a rather ungainly beast, one which appears rudderless and adrift in the middle of its sophomore season. Among those elements which have lost their focus: Will’s personality, Sue’s Sue-ness, Rachel’s likeability, thematic appropriateness of the musical numbers and any interest in developing Mercedes or Tina, who have been around since the beginning (I’ve given »

"Glee" Music Highlights: "The Justin Bieber Experience"

16 February 2011 10:59 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

This week brought Sam (Chord Overstreet) and Lauren (Ashley Fink) to the forefront and included a Sue Sylvester-led group number. We liked the Bieber tunes (almost despite ourselves), but the rest left us a bit underwhelmed.

Check out all the performances below and let us know what you thought in the comments.

Sam (Chord Overstreet) performs Justin Bieber's "Baby Baby Baby."

The Glee guys (minus Finn) perform Bieber's "Somebody to Love."

Mercedes (Amber Riley) and Rachel (Lea Michele) have a "diva-off" with "Take Me or Leave Me" from Rent.

Next page! Lauren knows what Puck likes and Sue in a plaid track suit. But why?

Lauren Zizes (Ashley Fink ) performs The Waitresses' "I Know What Boys Like."

Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) and the Glee kids perform My Chemical Romance's "Sing."

"Glee" Episode 213 Recap: Oh, Say Can You Bieb?

16 February 2011 6:58 AM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

If there could be such a thing as a not-very-gay episode of Glee, this would be it. Although Glee at its least gay is still really super-gay, especially to a girl like me who came of age in an era when a two-second dry-mouthed kiss between two women who weren't even dating got a TV episode canceled on half the network affiliates in the nation.

But I digress; this is not a recap of a long-ago episode of La Law, it's the recap of the thirteenth episode of the second season of Glee, "Comeback." And despite the fact that there was no Kurt whatsoever, not even Kurt swaying in the background while Blaine leads the Warblers in song, and that the future promise of Brittana seems as far off as it ever did… this episode had its moments.

Or maybe not. I might be fooled by the fact that I've »

Glee Recap: You Gotta Bieb-lieve!

16 February 2011 5:55 AM, PST | TVLine.com | See recent TVLine.com news »

Last night’s Glee wasn’t about to let a little thing like plot come between itself and the popular Twitter trending topic Justin Bieber. Sue tried to destroy New Directions from within (while discovering her own squishy inner core), Rachel tried to become socially relevant (while launching Brittany to the title of Trendiest Girl in America), and Sam refashioned himself in The Bieb’s image (while trying to kick his unfortunate Na’vi habit).

Unfortunately, Sue’s was the least successful of the three story arcs. Maybe I just can’t find the humor in our favorite crazy cheerleading »

Sing It For the World: Will 'Glee' do My Chemical Romance at Regionals?

15 February 2011 8:18 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

On Tuesday's episode of "Glee," Rachel (Lea Michele) and Finn (Cory Monteith) led the New Directions gang in a flannel-covered, rousing rendition of My Chemical Romance's empowering anthem "Sing."

It's definitely a powerful song, but does it pack the punch needed to win Regionals? Not so much. Still, the lyrics are definitely appropriate for our wily band of underdogs who will undoubtedly face some formidable competition when they hit that Regionals stage.

Check out the original version in the video below -- we have to confess, we kind of like the New Directions cover better. (Sorry, MCR fans... theirs is rad, too.) It's an unexpected choice for our Glee clubbers... and we've got our doubts as to whether we'll hear it again, because Rachel is on a crusade to add an original song to their repertoire, and what Rachel wants, Rachel usually gets.

Sing it out,

Boy, you've got to see what tomorrow brings. »

'SNL' promo pic: Visual evidence that this week's show will be bizarre -- Exclusive

27 January 2011 3:23 PM, PST | EW - Inside TV | See recent EW.com - Inside TV news »

Throughout Saturday Night Live’s august, 36-year history, there have been some truly weird host/musical guest pairings: Betty White & Jay-z, John C. Reilly & My Chemical Romance, and Jamie Foxx & Blink-182 all immediately spring to mind. But this week’s show, which will be hosted by Social Network star and Oscar nominee Jesse Eisenberg with musical guest Nicki Minaj, may feature the oddest couple ever to grace Studio 8H.

Just look at this promo picture. Eisenberg is positively Zuckerbergian in a drab purple hoodie and button-down (looks like he inspired Kenan Thompson to go for the same look, too), while »
