He is best known for his work as the Master Teacher at the National Theatre Of Japan's Kabuki Training program. He has been a guest director and visiting instructor at the University of Hawai'i where, in 1979, he co-directed with Dr. James R Brandon a lavish production of the kabuki play Chushingura.
