Fox Host Rips Obama’s Onslaught Of Damage Control: Intended To ‘Confuse The American People,’ Press

16 May 2013 5:16 AM, PDT | Mediaite - TV | See recent Mediaite - TV news »

Amid a frenzy of stories about Benghazi, the IRS, and the Associated Press/Justice Department issues, President Obama tackled all three in one day on Wednesday — by releasing emails about talking points, announcing the commissioner's resignation, and pushing for a media shield law, respectively. Fox & Friends tackled the "damage control" on Thursday's show, with co-host Gretchen Carlson quickly dismissing it. »

SNL Recap: The Natural Comedy and Casual Racism of Zach Galifianakis

5 May 2013 8:41 AM, PDT | Vulture | See recent Vulture news »

The advantage of going with a host like Zach Galifianakis, with his strong comedy background, is that you don't have to be quite so bulletproof with your concepts or your scripting. What we saw last night were a lot of loose concepts that stayed on the right side of funny because Galifianakis is such a naturally funny guy. (Which, by the way, only serves as a greater indictment of the Hangover series, which can't manage to overcome its vile nature even with a talented comedian like Galifianakis reading the lines.)Current-Events Mishmash of the WeekAs always, the "Fox and Friends" sketch is valuable mostly for the part where you ride the pause-button through the many "corrections" that consequence-free dumb-dumbs Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson, and Brian Kilmeade are forced to issue. SNL's 'Fox & Friends' Says Jason Collins Is Not A Hero

5 May 2013 6:33 AM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

This weekend's Zach Galifianakis-helmed "Saturday Night Live" saw another "Fox & Friends" cold open, this time spoofing the conservative morning show's reaction to NBA-player Jason Collins coming out.

Hosts Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson & Brian Kilmeade (Taran Killam, Vanessa Bayer & Bobby Moynihan respectively) explained that we need to stop calling Collins a hero simply for revealing an "embarrassing secret." They then, of course, revealed their own secrets that don't make them heroes.

The segment went on to an interview with NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg (Fred Armisen) and wrapped up, as ever, with a riotous list of corrections. Watch the segment above and then see all of this week's corrections below.

'SNL' Takes on Jason Collins' Coming Out (Video)

4 May 2013 7:43 PM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter | See recent The Hollywood Reporter news »

Saturday Night Live's cold open tackled NBA player Jason Collins' public revelation this week he is gay -- though the show didn't go as far as to portray Collins on screen. Instead, its perennially offensive Fox & Friends parody team of Steve Doocy (Taran Killam), Gretchen Carlson (Vanessa Bayer) and Brian Kilmeade (Bobby Moynihan) discussed the monumental sports story in predictably offensive fashion. Photos: From Live TV to the Big Screen: 12 'SNL' Sketches Made Into Movies The trio asked why Collins was being hailed as a hero. NY Gop’er Wishes Tsarnaev Would Face Torture, Fantasizes About ‘Me, Osama Bin Laden, And A Baseball Bat’

New York state Sen. Greg Ball (R, C, I – Patterson) came under fire after he sent out a tweet expressing his hope that, if it saves any more lives, Boston bombing suspect Dzokhar Tsarnaev would face “torture.” Ball defended his Tweet with Gretchen Carlson on Fox & Friends on Monday and lamented that Tarnaev’s apprehension by American authorities makes his torture unlikely. »

Business As Usual? Fox & Friends Finds ‘Glimmer Of Hope’ For Gop In Obama’s Budget Plan

11 April 2013 4:32 AM, PDT | Mediaite - TV | See recent Mediaite - TV news »

President Obama released his budget plan yesterday — overall receiving a lukewarm, if not plain angry, reception from both sides of the aisle. While he has championed it has a compromise, his base disagrees with touching entitlements and his opposition disagrees with additional tax revenue. When the a Democratic president's base is upset with him, Fox & Friends' Gretchen Carlson asserted on Thursday, there's "a glimmer of hope" for Republicans. »

Fox & Friends Rails Against Hollywood ‘Obsession’ With Traveling To Cuba: ‘Okay For Them,’ Not For Us

9 April 2013 5:51 AM, PDT | Mediaite - TV | See recent Mediaite - TV news »

"What is it with Hollywood celebrities going to Cuba?" Fox & Friends' Gretchen Carlson asked on Tuesday. Noting the country's problems and that it's "not necessarily" free, the hosts questioned the Hollywood "obsession" in light of Jay-z and Beyoncé's recent trip to the country, which garnered some controversy. Most of us can't travel to Cuba, they noted, but it's a-okay for them. »

Judith Miller Warns That Fox Reporter Refusing To Reveal Source ‘May Have To Go To Prison’

Fox News reporter Jana Winter is facing a First Amendment fight, being pressed to reveal the sources behind her story about Aurora theater shooter James Holmes — or face possible jail time. Judith Miller, who, you may recall, made headlines when she found herself in a similar situation, joined Fox & Friends co-host Gretchen Carlson on Monday. And her prediction wasn't optimistic. »

Woman Says She Could See, Smell God

3 April 2013 12:39 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

A woman who said she saw, heard, spoke with and even smelled God during a near-death experience in 2009 recounted her experiences on an episode of Fox News' "Fox and Friends" on Tuesday.

Crystal McVea, an Oklahoma native, said she spent time in heaven when she went into full respiratory arrest after a medical procedure on Dec. 10, 2009. She said the experience renewed her faith in Christianity.

Speaking with Fox's Gretchen Carlson, McVea said the moment she closed her eyes in the hospital, she opened them in heaven.

"I had angels, I had God, and I fell to my knees in front of him," she said.

After Carlson asked her to describe God, McVea answered that while "human words" failed to describe what heaven looked like, she could describe God as “an immense brightness –- a brightness I could feel, taste, touch, hear, smell –- that infused me. Not like I had five senses, »

This Week's 'Fox & Friends' Corrections

18 February 2013 7:27 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

The best part of the recurring "Fox & Friends" parodies on "Saturday Night Live" is nearly always the "corrections" segment at the end, when the dimwitted hosts Steve Doocy, Gretchen Carlson and Brian Kilmeade grin blankly into the camera as corrections of misstatements they said on the show fly by.

Check out the full sketch here.

Thanks to the official "SNL" website for posting the full list of corrections from this week's "Fox & Friends."

At no time did our military fight a war against Cobra.

The "T" in Blt does not stand for "terrorism."

It is not Roe vs. Dwayne Wade.

Zero Dark Thirty is not a diet soda.

Watch: 'Fox & Friends' Welcomes Ted Nugent On 'SNL'

17 February 2013 8:14 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

"Fox & Friends" returned to "Saturday Night Live" this weekend, this time to react to President Obama's State of the Union address. And of course, they invited Ted Nugent (Bill Hader), who was a special guest at Tuesday's speech, to give his always-enlightening take on the election.

Take a look at the clip above to see Steve Doocy (Taran Killam), Gretchen Carlson (Vanessa Bayer) and the always-dopey Brian Kilmeade (Bobby Moynihan) completely misunderstand politics. They also welcome Fred Armisen as a British health official addressing the horsemeat scandal, who ensures them that they are even worse than stereotypes of Americans.

As always, be sure to have your finger on the pause button at the end when they list off the "Fox & Friends" corrections. »

Hugh Bonneville On What Makes 'Downton' Drama So Delicious

14 February 2013 9:23 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

New York — The third season of "Downton Abbey" ends this Sunday with a bang.

Exactly what that bang is, we're not going to say, in deference to the maybe half-dozen "Downton" fans who still don't know the shocking truth.

The larger point remains that after Sunday's "Masterpiece Classic" (airing at 9 p.m. Eastern on PBS), viewers must suffer "Downton" withdrawal until next season.

But until then, we'll have our memories.

And what a season this has been! The beloved valet Mr. Bates was sprung from jail and a trumped-up murder charge to begin married life with his bride, the plucky lady's maid Anna. Robert Crawley, Earl of Grantham, has gotten Downton Abbey back on its feet financially with an able assist from his son-in-law and presumptive heir, Matthew Crawley. Matthew wed his true love, Lady Mary Crawley. But another of Robert's daughters, Lady Sybil, died tragically during childbirth.

Fox News Anchors Totally Look Like...

28 January 2013 11:22 AM, PST | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

Aside from the occasional "Saturday Night Live" parody or Jon Stewart feud, we didn't think Fox News had many (intentional) ties to the comedy world.

Until now.

It has been recently brought to our attention that some of the anchors, guests and commentators we regularly see on Fox News happen to bear a striking resemblance to characters on the hit 90s sketch comedy program, "The Kids In The Hall." Seriously, just see for yourself below (unfortunately, Gretchen Carlson's "Fox & Friends" cohorts are not included).

Frank Luntz To Gop: ‘The American People Don’t Care What The Size Of Government Is’

14 January 2013 6:16 AM, PST | Mediaite - TV | See recent Mediaite - TV news »

Republican pollster Frank Luntz joined Fox & Friends host Gretchen Carlson on Monday to discuss the Gop’s changing messaging in the wake of their electoral losses in 2012. He went through a variety of messaging challenges that the Gop faces, given that the majority of the American people already predisposed to oppose Republican programs. Luntz began by noting that one core Republican principle is not shared by most of the electorate, saying that voters “don’t care about what the size of government is.” »
