New faces, new headaches and a new look at the Samcro table are on tap for Sons of Anarchy Season 6, which this fall will pick up “probably just a matter of days” after the events of the last finale. Speaking with TVLine at FX’s Upfront party on Thursday night, here is what else series creator Kurt Sutter shared about the hit drama’s next cycle.

Jimmy Smits and Donal Logue to Reprise Their Roles on Sons Of Anarchy’s Sixth Season

28 February 2013 11:44 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

In its fractious fifth season, FX's biker drama Sons of Anarchy introduced us to two new characters, with varying results.  The first, Nero Padilla (played by Jimmy Smits) started out as a love interest for Gemma (Katey Segal), but ended up being a better father figure to Jax (Charlie Hunnam) than his (increasingly evil) step-father Clay (Ron Perlman).  Nero helped the Mc financially and also emotionally as things began to break apart.  As much as he wanted to help lead Jax away from its violence, he ended up caught in its web as well. Last year we also got the beginning of the story of U.S. Marshall Lee Toric (Donal Logue) in the final few episodes, and it seems Logue will also be back in the new season to expand on that part.  Hit the jump for more on these characters and what we might see of them coming up. »

Earlier this week, it was announced two stars are heading back to FX's Sons of Anarchy next season after turning in two memorable performances and creator Kurt Sutter is working on a new show for the network.

According to Deadline, Jimmy Smits will reprise his role as Neron "Nero" Padilla, a former gangbanger who gets pulled back into the life thanks to his partnership with main character Jax (Charlie Hunnam). In a separate report, Donal Logue will return as former U.S. Marshall Lee Toric.

Donal Logue Returns To ‘Sons Of Anarchy’

27 February 2013 3:25 PM, PST | Deadline TV | See recent Deadline TV news »

We will see more of former U.S. Marshall Lee Toric on FX‘s Sons Of Anarchy. Donal Logue, who introduced the character in the last three episodes of Soa‘s fifth season, will be back in Season 6 for a major arc, reprising the character of Toric, forced into retirement because of his history of violence. Logue and Soa creator Kurt Sutter had talked for years about Logue guesting on the show before the timing finally worked, so it makes sense for Sutter to keep the actor around for a little longer. »
