'Kick-Ass 2': Aaron Johnson, Chloe Moretz, Jim Carrey line up in new poster

Kick-Ass 2 has unveiled a new international poster.
The artwork shows the stars of the film together in their superhero costumes.
Aaron Taylor Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse will return alongside newcomer Jim Carrey.
Based on Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's second miniseries, the movie sees Dave Lizewski (Taylor-Johnson) join forces with a group of civilian vigilantes to fight Mintz-Plasse's increasingly powerful The Motherf**ker.
John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Robert Emms, Lindy Booth and Daniel Kaluuya will also feature in the Jeff Wadlow-directed sequel.
Moretz recently addressed her young character's controversially profane language in the films.
Kick-Ass 2 will be released on August 14 in the UK, and August 16 in the Us.

You can keep your Man Of Steels and your super-powered Iron Man 3 suits. The latter part of this summer sees a new costumed vigilante land on screens to make our world safer when Kick-Ass 2 hits screens this August. And to prove it here's a new international poster for the film. This time, of course, Aaron Taylor Johnson's Kick-Ass / Dave Lizewski has teamed up with a group of other would-be superheroes in costume, led by Colonel Stars-And-Stripes (Jim Carrey). Meanwhile, Chloe Grace Moretz' Hit Girl is attempting to adjust to normal life as teenager Mindy MacReady with mixed results, and they're all threatened by Christopher Mintz-Plasse's former Red Mist, now rechristened The Mother Fucker and set on revenge.Kick-Ass 2 also stars Clark Duke, Donald Faison, John Leguizamo, Morris Chestnut and Lyndsy Fonseca, and hits UK cinemas on August 14 and the Us on August 16. It makes sense that someone might want Aaron Taylor Johnson to take on a superhero role for a major comic film. He's had plenty of time as Kick-ass so it's not like he would need to prepare. Well, he will have to slip into a different personality than Dave Lizewski. Johnson is being eyed to play Quicksilver in The Avengers 2. At least he's got that whiny thing down. Dave did was kind of a bitch at times. It may not even be happening though. There are some issues involving the schedule but »

MTV News has debuted the "Kick-Ass 2" red-band trailer, your first extended look at the superhero flick directed by Jeff Wadlow and produced by Matthew Vaughn. Based on the comic book penned by Mark Millar and illustrated by John Romita Jr., "Kick-Ass 2" continues the story of Dave Lizewski, your every day comic book nerd who just so happens to fight crime on the side. Aaron Taylor Johnson, Chloë Grace Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse are all back for the sequel, followed by a bunch of newcomers including Jim Carrey as Colonel Stars and Stripes.

For a while there it was Guardians of the Galaxy that seemed to be summoning every single white, young, brown-haired actor to potentially play the male lead. Now it's the Godzilla reboot-- and both of them have apparently been turned down by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Today it's Aaron Taylor Johnson's turn to be thrown into the rumor mill, with word coming that he's now the top pick from studio Legendary Pictures. That doesn't mean he's take the job though-- according to Deadline Johnson is waiting on a final draft of the script, which is currently being reworked by former Walking Dead show runner Frank Darabont. Exclusive: Legendary Pictures is eyeing Kick-Ass star Aaron-Taylor Johnson to star in Godzilla, the Gareth Edwards-directed reboot of the franchise based on the iconic Japanese reptile. I’m told that Johnson, who starred in the Oliver Stone-directed Savages and Anna Karenina and followed by reprising in Kick-Ass 2: Balls To The Wall is the frontrunner for the job. He won’t make a final decision on whether or not to take the offer until he sees the final polish that Frank Darabont is writing based on the Max Borenstein script. Legendary’s Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni are taking the creative lead on this project — they just put Mary Parent on after she became a producer of Pacific Rim — and Warner Bros is distributing everywhere except for Japan.
